Self Support Tower Analysis

This document outlines the key considerations and steps for self-supporting tower design and analysis. It discusses determining loads on the structure, selecting the tower height, material, number of legs, and bracing type. Foundation calculation and compliance with various regulations and standards are also covered. Safety precautions for rotating machinery, radiation, electrical shock, and lightning strikes are highlighted. Methods of structural analysis and design criteria involving loading, strength assessment, slenderness ratio, and material selection are provided. Other topics include the need for building permits and corrosion prevention.

3. ELECTRICAL SHOCK
All equipment and cable line must be equipped with explosion
proof from electrical hazard.

4. LIGHTNING STRIKES
Outdoor antennas should be grounded with an approved
lighting arresting device. Local codes may apply. The radio
should also be grounded to an earth ground to help protect
both the radio and its user.

Methodologies of Analysis
ASD (Allowable Stress Design)
LRFD (Load and Resistance Factor Design)
Comment:
Many of Standard and Recommended Practice suggest to use LRFD because LRFD
produced structures with a more consistent factor of safety
