This document outlines an IoT-based LPG gas leakage detection and controlling system. The system aims to quickly detect gas leaks using WiFi modules and automatically control the gas to prevent accidents. It allows users to remotely monitor gas levels through an online portal. Some key advantages include high sensor sensitivity, small detection times, and automatic operation without human interaction. Potential applications include installation in homes, hotels, and LPG storage facilities to detect leaks and enable fast corrective action. A future improvement could be developing a mobile app to provide gas concentration updates and leak predictions to users.

OUTLINES OF PRESENTATION :

 INTRODUCTION
 LITERATURE SURVEY
 SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM
 OBJECTIVES
 ADVANTAGES
 APPLICATIONS

2
INTRODUCTION:
 LPG is the abbreviation or short form for liquefied petroleum gas.
 Like all fossil fuels, it is a non-renewable source of energy
 It is extracted from crude oil and natural gas.
 The main compositions of LPG are hydrocarbons containing three or four
carbon atoms
 The normal components of LPG thus, are propane (ClHa) and butane
(CaHro).
 Depending on the source of the LPG and how it has been produced,
components other than hydrocarbons may also be present.
 LPG vapors is heavier than air so care should be taken during storage so
that any leakage will not sink to the ground and get accumulated in an area
which is low lying and difficult to disperse.
 LPG gas is basically propane and butane and it is odorless in its natural
3
state.
LITERATURE SURVEY:
A.Mahalingam proposed a gas leak detector that meets the UK occupational and
health standards.
(Ref. A.Mahalingam, R.T. Naayagi,N.E. Mastoralis “Design and
Implementation of an Economic Gas Leakage Detector” ACA'12 Proceedings
of the 11th international conference on Applications of Electrical and
Computer Engineering)

 AshishShrivastava, RatneshPrabhaker, et al aims to present such a

design that can automatically detect and stop gas leakage in susceptible
premises. This system consists of GSM module, which alerts by sending
SMS. This system not only detects gas leakage but also alerts and turns off
main power and gas supplies.
(Ref. AshishShrivastava, RatneshPrabhaker, Rajeev Kumar and Rahul
Verma “GSM based Gas leakage detection System” International Journal of
Technical Research
4 and Applications )
SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM:
 From the literature survey,we can clearly observe that the detecion
of gas is not by the IOT module and also the detection takes more
time to control the gas
 There fore, the proposed method which we are been discussing is
been using by the WIFI module and also it detects the gas very fast
and also controls the gas leakage.
 The proposed method has many advantages i.e., we can always
monitor the gas value by using WIFI module.

5
OBJECTIVES:
 Arduino and IOT based LPG leakage detection system is a project
which will help in determining gas leakage in the surrounding and
send data to an IOT module.
 Internet of Things (IoT) is the networking of ‘things’ by which
physical things can communicate with the help of sensors,
electronics, software, and connectivity.
 These systems do not require any human interaction and same is the
case with iot based gas detection system, it does not require human
attention.

6
ADVANTAGES:
 Quick reaction from sensor
 High sensitivity of LPG sensor
 Small sensitivity for MQ3 means alcohol sensor give additional
feature in the system.

7
APPLICATIONS:
 IOT and Arduino based LPG leakage detection system can be
installed in Homes, Hotels, LPG Cylinder storage areas. The main
advantage of this project is that it can determine the leakage and
send the data over to a website, where it can be monitored and
corrective actions can be taken.
 If appropriate measures are taken quickly after it is reported over the
IOT, it can help in saving the loss of lives and property

8
FUTURE SCOPE:

A mobile application can be created for this

system which we can give information about the
concentration of gas present in area setting
reminders to check gas level ,also to predict gas
leak by giving values
