Brand Profile:Domino’s
• Jubilant FoodWorks Limited (the Company) is a Jubilant Bhartia Group Company. The
Company was incorporated in 1995 and initiated operations in 1996. The Company got listed
on the Indian bourses in February 2010. Mr. Shyam S. Bhartia, Mr. Hari S. Bhartia and Jubilant
Consumer Pvt. Ltd. (formerly Jubilant Fresh Pvt. Ltd.) are the Promoters of the Company.
• The Company & its subsidiary operates Domino's Pizza brand with the exclusive rights for
India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The Company is market leader in the pizza segment
with a network of 1,249 Domino’s Pizza restaurants across 276 cities in India (as on June 30,
2019).
IMPACT OF COVID19 ON FOOD INDUSTRY
• The key factors that affect the food & beverage industry after the pandemic include the
shutdowns of the restaurants and other seating areas.
• The outbreak of COVID-19 had a dual impact on online food chains and offline food chains.
• It includes restaurants and cafes that are entirely shut down in some regions, whereas, online
food deliveries are available.
• In addition, packaged food and beverage industries are witnessing an upsurge in the demand,
such as shelf-stable foods and beverages including milk products, as consumers rush to stock
the pantries.
• The primary factors for the growth of the food & beverages industry before COVID-19
pandemic includes the rise in the number of on the go consumers and increased adoption of
ready to eat food
BRAND’S STRATEGY TO COUNTER THE SITUATION
• Domino’s readied and prepped itself way
ahead of the lockdown announcement and
Janta curfew on 16 march 2020 and
announced its “zero contact delivery”
service.
• Under the new delivery model, customers will receive their order without coming in contact
with a delivery staff.
• The idea is to ensure the safety of both customers and the delivery staff.
• The pizza company also stated that its restaurants, delivery bikes, delivery bike boxes, and
pizza delivery hot bags were being sanitized every four hours. The company claimed all its
pizzas were safe for consumption as they were baked at 245 degrees Celsius.
