Dr. Khan Sarfaraz Ali

The document discusses human resource development (HRD) and training. It defines HRD as enhancing employees' knowledge, skills, and attitudes to perform their jobs efficiently. There are two approaches to development - hands off, where the organization does not take responsibility for employee growth, and manufacturing, where organizations identify deficiencies and arrange training. Training increases job-specific knowledge and skills, while development improves overall personality. The key steps in training are needs assessment, objective setting, design, implementation, evaluation, and curriculum development. Needs assessment identifies performance gaps and determines if training is needed.

Human resource development (HRD)
is the most useful device for enhancing
the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of
managers to accomplish their tasks
efficiently.

HRD is a process of developing human

resource through appropriate need-
based training.
Development approach can be
explained into two categories. One is
hands off approach and another one is
manufacturing approach.
In Hands Off Approach, organization do not take any
responsibility for employee development or growth.

In Manufacturing Approach organizations sort out

employees’ lacking in job performance and arrange
different types of development program for the greater
interest of the organization.
Training is the act of increasing the
knowledge, skills, and attitudes of an
employee for doing a particular job.

Development refers to learning opportunities

designed to improve the overall personality of
an individual.
