FREQUENCY DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS
WHAT IS FDMA
FREQUENCY DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS:
- Is a multiplexing signal technology under AMPS ( Advance Mobile
Phone System). FDMA is the oldest used in broadcasting and land-mobile-
two-way-radio, etc. FDMA band is divided into several narrow bands of
frequency, which allocated to a single user. FDMA implement the use of guard
bands to avoid merging of frequency. FDMA technology is still observed in the
present time, FDD is used in mobile band signal such as Bands 1, 3, 7 and 28
which Globe and Smart telecoms used under 4G LTE technology.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF
FDMA
ADVANTAGES: DISAVANTAES:
• No network timing. • Guard band reduce the capacity of a
FDMA.
• No equalization.
• Reduced information bit rate has • FDMA cost.
significant impact to the capacity. • No more than 2 user at the same
frequency.
• Continuous transmission
• Maximum bit rate is constant.
