Basics of Pipe Routing

To get the required


pipe fitting

­ Route Pipe  to add pipe components into model


(flanges, reducers, pipes)
­ Insert flanges, valves and standard components
­ Piping modifications (delete, move, cut, etc.)
­ Browse Pipeline is very useful command to use before
making ISOMETRIES. You can check your pipelines very
easily.

­ Select Specification
­ Select Insulation
­ Define Nominal Size

Define systems
­ Everything in model must have a System. For example pipes in "Fresh Water",
building in "Building", Steel constructions in "Platforms" or "Supports", Pumps in
"Equipment" etc…
New system:

­ Give a name, which describes System best way, pick up color and ”Stipple” for it.
­ More colors can be defined with Configure colors tool

Define pipelines
­ Pipes are routed according Systems. First when routing a Pipe, you pick up the right
system then you choose the right pipeline from this system.

­ Give pipelines name and choose specification(s) for it. Add required attribute
information.

PIPE ROUTING USING POINT CLOUDS


­ Point clouds are the output of the laser scanning device, which provides the
3D points, which can be imported in Cadmatic and we can use for
modelling.
­ Piperouting can be done using the point clouds as a reference.

Specifications
­ Piping Specification or Pipe Class is rule, which defines what type of pipes,
flanges, bends, branches, valves, etc. are allowed to use.
­ Meaning of this is, that when routing a pipe, after you picked right system
and pipeline, you automatically have right type of piping parts and standard
components in use.
­ Specifications are managed by Cadmatic Administrators
