JAMSETJI TATA

PERSONAL DETAILS

 JAMSETJI TATA was an Indian pioneer Industrialist.

 Their full name was JAMSETJI NUSSERWANJI TATA.

 He was born on 3 March 1839 at Navsari , Gujarat.

 JAMSETJI TATA was graduated from Elphinstone College, Bombay (now


Mumbai) in 1858.

 They belongs to a Parsi family.

 They passed away at the age of 65 on 19 May 1904 at Bad Nauheim, Germany
BUSINESS DETAILS
JAMSETJI Tata worked in his father's company until he was 29.

They founded a trading company in 1868 with ₹21,000 capital


that later became the Tata Group.

During the 1870s, they focused on cotton manufacturing and


established mills in Nagpur, Bombay. 

 In 1906, they planned for the development of the Bombay-


area hydroelectric power plants that later became Tata Power.

Jamsetji organized the first large-scale ironworks in India in


1901, and six years later the Tata Iron and Steel Company (now
Tata Steel) was formed.

They are also regarded as the” Father of Indian Industrialist.”


ACHIEVEMENTS
 Tata Steel is Asia's first and India's largest steel company. It

became the world's fifth-largest steel company after it
acquired Corus Group producing 28 million tonnes of steel
annually.

 Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, the pre-eminent Indian


institution for research and education in Science and
Engineering.

 Tata Hydroelectric Power Supply Company, renamed Tata


Power Company Limited, currently India's largest private
electricity company with an installed generation capacity of
over 8000MW

 Establishment of Taj Mahal Hotel by TATA Group of


companies.

  In 1898 he donated land for a research institute in Bangalore


(Bengaluru), and his sons later founded the Indian Institute of
Science there (1911).
