Introduction
Industrial visit was carried out at

 Wonji shoa sugar factory
 Ethiopian pulp and paper company
 Anbesa Garage
 Anbessa beer factory from 14th to 18th Feb, 2022 especially for fifth year
mechanical students.
• The main objective behind the visit was to make student aware about how
various activities related to raw material, product and resource are carried out
in company and give them feel of managers as soon as they start there
course.

• As soon as we reached company we were guided by heads of production

department about history and how company was established. It was great to
know that companies follows principal of equality among all the level of
employees in company because of which they have same dress code and
same canteen right from higher level managerial team to lower level workers.
 Purpose Of Visiting
 The purpose of the visit was the get to know the companies and
also try to understand the complex manufacturing industry.
 to provide technical knowledge with the technological
development in the industry  and to understand the gap between
the theoretical and practical knowledge.
 Interfacing   with   the   industry   also   provide   a   chance   to
  build networks   and   hone   their   communication skills.
Procedure Of Visit
Pre Visit
• As the start of the industrial visit, the process of visiting method
had been described to students. Then students can frame some
sort of knowledge about the servicing process, safety aspects,
marketing of products, environmental pollution etc. of the industry
they visited.
The Details of the Visit

• Hibret Manufacturing and Machine installation

HMMBI establish production factories, build industrial machineries, produce and
address capital goods and spare parts under internationally accepted quality
and competitive price, So as to realize national transformation and development
strategic plan.
It contains many production factories used to do different tasks.
The manufactured products primarily serve as input into a wide variety of
industrial machinery.those are:
Bolt and Nuts with different size
 Different shapes of metal joints
 It contains shops of Lathe machines (conventional lathe or CNC lathe )
 milling machines (conventional milling or CNC milling)

Knowing about the company encompasses workshops which
provides the following opportunities,

FAB LAB
 Initially introduced various applications of composites like energy, storage,
biomedical, automobile, space, sports, and other fields.
 Then he introduced the design philosophy involved in development of
composites. He briefed on design, testing, modeling and analysis of matrix-
fibre interface. He highlighted the importance of failure and fracture
mechanics analysis and talked about newly developed design and 3D
braided composites.
 He also explained how Project Management used in production industries to
improve process efficiency and quality. He highlighted the importance of
quality, quantity, time and cost aspects of products or processes in industries.
• also got an opportunity to visit high tech institute which
consisted of electrical lab, CNC maintenance lab which was a
very good facility to learn CNC maintenance and communications
lab.
Ethiopian plastic industry
we were divided into three groups and they were taken to
 tool room
 compression moulding unit
 injection moulding unit
 composite moulding unit
 testing unit.
Students visited various units in Ethiopia plastic industry
and learned about:
 Various plastic materials and their applications
 Different moulding machine for plastic processing
 How to maintain a thickness of plastic material
 Feeding of plastic granules into the machine
 Curing time of various plastics
 Various temperatures maintained in screw type compression
moulding machine
 Injection and manual blow moulding operations
 composite moulding processes
Wonji shoa sugar factory
• At Industry students were able to see and understand different
mechanical operation carried out in industry e.g. cutting, shredding,
screening, centrifuging etc. Students have experienced the actual
operations which are being taught in the classroom e.g. evaporation,
crystallization, boiler etc.

• Sugarcane processing is focused on the production of cane sugar

(sucrose) from sugarcane. Other products of the processing include
bagasse, molasses, and ethanol.
Production process
• Hand cutting is the most common harvesting method throughout the
company but some locations have used mechanical harvesters for several
years.
• After cutting, the cane is loaded by hand, mechanical grab loaders, or
continuous loaders. Cane is transported to the mills using trailers, trucks, rail
cars, or barges, depending upon the relative location of the cane fields and
the processing plants.
• The cane is received at the mill and prepared for extraction of the juice. At the
mill, the cane is mechanically unloaded, placed in a large pile, and, prior to
milling, the cane is cleaned.
• The milling process occurs in two steps: breaking the hard structure of the
cane and grinding the cane.
• Imbibition is the process in which water or juice is applied to the crushed cane to enhance
the extraction of the juice at the next mill. The juice from the mills is strained to remove
large particles and then clarified.
• Evaporation is performed in two stages: initially in an evaporator station to concentrate
the juice and then in vacuum pans to crystallize the sugar. The clarified juice is passed
through heat exchangers to preheat the juice and then to the evaporator stations.
• Finally the pure sugar is packed.
Ethiopian pulp and paper company
• The purpose of our industrial visit is to get a practical view about
machinery used in paper production in visit we have seen the
designing of transformers and also the
– working of motors,
– water purification Plant,
– crushing of pulp ,straw, purification,
– dying paper with colours with required quality, quality check
Up, binding and packaging units
• For Further development of the quality of paper, full utilization of capacity
and for pollution abatement, which the Pulp Mill is upgraded for pulping by
installing Continuous Digester System.
• After digester system by means of conveyor goes to evaporator is used in
an air conditioning system to allow a compressed cooling chemical to
evaporate from liquid to gas while absorbing heat in the process. It can also
be used to remove water or other liquids from mixtures. the goal of
evaporation is to vaporize most of the water from a solution which contains
the desired product.
• Then the paper thickness checked by automatic quality cheekier and then
goes to packing by means of rotating machines. After all this performed the
prepared paper ship by conveyor to further adjustment like how customer
wants and quality testing performance are prepared to degrade the
unwanted material and pack to recycle place.
Bishoftu automotive industry
Bishoftu automotive engineering industry has eight (8) Factories.
• Light vehicle production factory: - From these light vehicles production
factory is one of the factories that are fully assembling pick-up and SUV
(super urban vehicle).
• Heavy duty truck production factory: - This factory is produce almost for
all types of trucks and other special purpose trucks such as Cargo truck,
dump truck, Water and fuel truck, Trailer track, High bed, Low bed, Fire
trucks, Cranes and Vans.
• Bus production factory: - Upgrading, design and others is the activities of
the factory for both military and commercial customer’s needs. Such as: city
bus, intercity, school bus, Luxury bus and Special purpose buses (mobile
café, post bus, etc).
• Power train production factory: The main activities of power train
production factory are Over hauling of /engine, gear box, propeller shaft
transfer case differential/, Design of power train/ parts, manufacturing and
assemble/, Overhaul of various commercial vehicles, Recondition and grind
of crankshaft and Service maintains engine blocks.

• Vehicle systems production factory: The main operational activities of

vehicle system production factory is Assembling of vehicles injection pump,
steering system, cooling system, electrical system and others.

• Body and frame production factory: are used to produce body and frame
for different vehicles such as; Tipper body, Cargo body, Semitrailers, All Bus
frames, Water and fuel tankers, Chassis, High bed and low bed trailers, Truck
cabin, Truck mounted mixer drum, cabin and cargo for Pick up.
• Tank and armored vehicle production factory: As one can recognize from
its name bush car is a military car especially designed and manufactured
armed soldiers into the bush for attack/combat.
• Painting production factory: this production factory is used for finishing
purpose by painting vehicle and parts as the produced vehicle is intended.

In production of beer, our systems impress with top performance, ingenious
process technology and perfectly matched process steps.
We observe different Design features
• Consistent use of servo motors
• No lubrication of the drives required
• Stand-alone glass guards
• Main bearing in the oil bath
• High-precision pneumatic components with long service
• First the glass bottle is pressed on and then evacuated several times.
• The cleaning process will start as soon as the same pressure prevails in
the glass bottle.
• Two different filling speeds guarantee optimum flow. The valve closes if
the liquid flowing in touches the probe mounted on the filling tube.
• After a cleaning phase, the pressure in the head space of the glass
bottle is reduced via a shifting valve and convey the bottle exits the
machine.
• The cleaned bottle passes through light, length and others different
sensors for checking the bottle standard and different bottle brands in
case unnecessary bottles automatically reject the bottle.
• electronic filling system with probe technology determination of the fill
level via probe Low oxygen filling through several pre-evacuation steps
with intermediary CO2 flushing machine and at end of filling after probe
signal sends to Electro-pneumatic capsule machine.
 RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Pre Visit
• Before visit ,it has been found that the students from all disciplines
gained some information from the initial briefing as approximately half.
This indicated that the students are still required a knowledge about
the activity.
• Therefore the purpose of pre visit introduction was to stimulate the
students to learn more about their subjects based upon the industrial
visit learning outcomes and look for answers from the industry experts.
Post Visit
After performing the industry visit, a modified version of the education had been
given to the students to assess their understanding from what they learned. The
results indicated some increase in the student knowledge from the one compared
with that before the visit.
In addition to that, the visit motivated students to learn in detail about their subjects
Students overall gained some knowledge from their pre-visit to post visit based on
the industrial visit learning outcome.

CONCLUSION
• Industrial visit has given us some practical experience. On completion of the
program, we had learn different activities and management techniques from the
field.
• The functions of the students are efficient and their objectives are attained
comfortably. It provides good working conditions and other required facilities to
the students during learning hours which makes feel more comfortable and safe to
come to class. The area is well hygienic and conditioned. It will create enthusiasm
among the students to work more efficiently.
• The university are very much concentrating on generation of innovative ideas
which makes them unique from the rest. Innovation which is almost necessary for
any Business Administrator, itself makes the organization go through the successful
path.
