Digital computers accept binary data represented as 0s and 1s and are used for business and scientific purposes. Analog computers accept continuous variable inputs and outputs and are used to measure physical quantities. Hybrid computers have aspects of both analog and digital. Digital computers are further divided by size, cost, speed and memory into mainframe, mini, micro, and super computers. Mainframe and mini computers can support many users simultaneously while microcomputers are designed for personal use. Supercomputers can perform jobs much faster than other computers and are used for specialized defense and research applications.

Types of computer

Digital computer
A computer that accept the digital data is called digital computer
Digital data means the data consist of (0,1) from 0 means absence of electric
current
And 1 means presence of electric current
This type of computer used for the business and scientific purpose
Analog computer
 This type of computer accept
the analog data and gives us
analog output
 Analog data means accept
the input form of continues .
This type of computer
 Used for the measurement of
physical quantities such a
distance ,velocity ,accelerati
on,temprature etc
Hybrid computer
 Hybrid computer has the characteristics of both analog and
digital computer
 Which means that it is computer which can measure both
physical as well as digital quantities this types of computer
designed to perform special task e.g.
 Air defence system different laboratory etc
Digital computer
Digital computer are further divided into different
categories according to their
size,cost,speed,memory…
Mainframe computer
Mini computer
Microcomputer
Super computer
MAINFRAME COMPUTER

 Mainframe computer systems are powerful enough to support several

hundred users simultaneously at remote terminals.
 ·   Mainframe Computers are so much faster than people, the users never
notice that the computer is handling other tasks.
 ·   This capability to process many programs concurrently for multiple
users is known as multiprogramming.
 ·  The typical mainframe computer occupies much of a large room.
 ·   Like supercomputers, mainframes require an environment with
closely monitored humidity and temperature.
 ·  Mainframe computers are priced between $100,000 and $2,000,000.
EXAMPLE:
 Amdahl 580
 IBM S/390
Control Data Cyber 176
MINI COMPUTER
Like mainframes, most minicomputers are multi user systems.
 Many of today's minicomputers can accommodate as many as 200 users working from
individual terminals.
·   Mini computers are a little slower than mainframe.
·  Like mainframes, minicomputers can accommodate remote users, but not as many.
·   Minicomputers' input, output, and storage devices look like those on mainframes.
·   Minicomputers have slightly less storage, and the printers are slightly slower.

EXAMPLE:
·         IBM AS/400
·         IBM SYSTEM 360
·         HP 3000
MICROCOMPUTERS:

 Smallest in size
 Very small in memory
 Less Expensive
 Designed for personal used
 Easily accommodatable on table name desktop
in lap called laptop
 Dell,IBM ,apple, latest of microcomputer core
(i3,i5,i7,i9)
SUPER COMPUTER
• A supercomputer is a computer with great speed and memory. This
kind of computer can do jobs faster than any other computer of its
generation. They are usually thousands of times faster than ordinary
personal computers made at that time.
PERSONAL COMPUTER
 This types of computer used for the general purpose
 E.g. pc ,laptop, tablet, smart phone
Special purpose

Used for special purpose

Like defense ,research purpose
e.g
Mainframe and mini computer and super computer
