Create a Presentation

Create a blank presentation

1. Open PowerPoint.
2. You can select Blank Presentation to
create a presentation from scratch or
select one of the templates.
Add a slide

1. Select the slide you want your new


slide to follow.
2. Select Home > New Slide.
3. Select Layout and the you type want
from the drop-down.
Add format and text

1. Place the cursor where you want,


and type.
2. Select the text, and then select an
option on the Home tab: Font, Font
size, Bold, Italic, Underline, etc...
Add a picture, shape, or chart

1. Select Insert tab.


2. To add a picture: select Picture then
browse for the picture you want and
select Insert.
3. To add a shape, art, or chart: select
Shapes, Icons, SmartArt, or Chart.
Design in PowerPoint

Themes 1. Select the Design tab.


2. Select one of the Themes.
3. Select one of the Variants.
Transition

To add a special effect to transition from one slide


to another:
1. Select the slide you want to add a transition to.
2. On the Transitions tab, select the effect you
want.
3. Select Effect Options to change how the
transition happens: Push, Wipe, ...
4. To undo a transition, select None.
Animations

To animate text or objects on a slide:


1. Select the text or object you want to animate.
2. On the Animations tab, select Add Animation, and
select the animation you want from the drop-down.
To animate one line of text at a time, select one line
of text, select an animation, select the next line of
text, select an animation...
3. For Start, select When Clicked, With Previous, or
After Previous. You can also select the Duration or
Delay.

To do this Press
Create a new presentation. Ctrl+N

Add a new slide. Ctrl+M

Make selected text bold. Ctrl+B

Change the font size for selected text. Alt+H, F, S

Open the Zoom dialog. Alt+W, Q

Cut selected text, object, or slide. Ctrl+X

Copy selected text, object, or slide. Ctrl+C

Paste cut or copied text, object, or slide. Ctrl+V

Undo the last action. Ctrl+Z

Save the presentation. Ctrl+S


Work with objects, pictures, and WordArt

To do this Press
Insert a text box. Alt+N, X

Insert an embedded document or spreadsheet as an object. Alt+N, J

Insert WordArt. Alt+N, W

Move the focus to the first floating shape, such as an image or a text box. Ctrl+Alt+5

Group selected shapes, pictures, or WordArt objects. Ctrl+G

Ungroup selected group. Ctrl+Shift+G

Copy the attributes of the selected shape. Ctrl+Shift+C

Paste the attributes to the selected object. Ctrl+Shift+V

Edit a linked or embedded object. Shift+F10 (to open the context


menu), then O, Enter, E

Insert a text box. Alt+N, X


Other useful shortcuts

To do this Press
Open the Print dialog. Ctrl+P
Print all slides in your presentation as full page slides using your default printer Alt+P, P
settings (when the Print dialog is open).
Display the Notes pane in the Normal view. Alt+W, P, N
Show or hide the grid. Shift+F9
Show or hide guides. Alt+F9
