SKILLS ASSESSMENT FOR MIGRATION

WHO IS VETASSES?
• Recognized assessor of qualifications and work experience of prospective migrants, supporting individuals’
application for employment, course entry and industry membership.

• Assesses 28 trade occupations and more than 360 professional occupations from various industries.

STEP 2: Prepare your application
> Prepare the documents required for the application.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
1. Recent passport-sized coloured photograph: must not be more than 6 months old and of good quality
2. Proof of Identity: at least one of Primary document and two or more of secondary documents
• Primary document:
 Birth certificate
 Passport Biopage
• Secondary Document
 National ID
 Driver’s Licence
 Social security card
 Marriage certificate
 Student identity card
 Australian visa

EVIDENCE OF EMPLOYMENT

Letter of Employment / Statement of Service: must be in a specific format

It must include the following: Issue date of the Statement of Service, company letter head, full name,
working hours, official position held, exact period of employment, description of main duties, salary earned and
details of the signatory

If a letter of employment or statement of service cannot be provided, a statutory declaration / affidavit may be
accepted.

Note: A statutory declaration cannot be accepted as evidence of your employment dates, position title(s) or as
payment evidence - such relevant information should be provided in the form of official documentation.

EVIDENCE OF EMPLOYMENT

Payment evidence:

Payment evidence can include one of the following types:

Pay slips (ideally your first and last payslip);

Taxation Records of Assessment (bearing company and applicant name)

Bank Statements showing at least two salary payments, your name and the employer's name; OR

Employment-linked insurance / superannuation records (bearing company and applicant name).

Pathway 1 evidence requirements
The applicant must have worked in the occupation for at least 12 months within the last 3 years.

The applicant must provide evidence showing that he meets the minimum employment experience
requirements for the nominated occupation:

Licensed Trades - 6 years' employment experience (with no formal training)

Licensed Trades - 4 years' employment experience (with relevant formal training)

Non-licensed Trades - 5 years' employment experience (with no formal training)

Non-licensed Trades - 3 years' employment experience (with relevant formal training)


1. An employer statement which includes all the following details:

• the exact employment period (start and finish dates)

• the normal hours of work

• the nature of employment (full-time, part-time, casual)

• job title (actual occupation)

• a detailed description of the relevant tasks undertaken

• the name and address of the business on official business letterhead

• the name, position, contact details (phone number and business email address), date and signature of the
person authorised to make the statement and the length of time they supervised the applicant. (This referee
must be the employer or supervisor)
2. Financial evidence including at least 2 of the following items per year of employment claimed:

•official government tax records or documents that may include payment summaries, group certificates or notices
of assessment

•three pay slips citing names of the employer and employee (pay slips should be from the start, middle and end of
each year claimed)

•superannuation documents citing the names of the applicant and employer

•bank statements with the employer’s name and clearly showing income has been deposited.
Pathway 2 evidence requirements
The applicant must provide an accepted Australian qualification (including a Statement of Results) or current Australian Occupational
Licence at the time of application. The applicant must also have been employed in the occupation for at least 3 years including 12 months within
the last 3 years.

1. An employer statement which includes all the following details:
