Automatic Pump Controller Using Ic 555 Chip 3

This document describes an automatic pump controller circuit that uses an IC 555 chip to control a water pump motor based on the water level in an overhead tank. The circuit switches the motor on when the water level falls below the lower limit, and switches it off when the tank is filled. This helps reduce water and electricity waste by preventing over- or under-filling of the tank. The controller uses common electronic components like the 555 timer IC, transistor, diode, relay, and resistor in a simple circuit configuration.

AUTOMATIC PUMP CONTROLLER USING IC 555 CHIP

Abstract
• Water is the important natural resources that should be used more efficiently.
• In manual system, users are supposed to visit their water tank to check the water
level.
• The uncontrolled use of water leads to wastage of water and it causes water
scarcity
• Water level indicators work by using sensor probes to indicate water level in a
storage tank.
• These probes the control panel to trigger or indicators as mentioned.
Block Diagram or Circuit Diagram
Components Used

• 555IC
• Transistor BC547
• Relay 12v
• Diode
• Resistor
• Motor
Explanation

• A automatic water pump controller circuit that controls the water pump motor.
• The motor gets automatically switched on when water in the overhead tank (OHT)
falls below the lower limit.
• Similarly, it gets switched off when the tank is filled up.
• When the pin voltage falls below 0.33 Vcc, the timer is triggered and the output
goes high.
• In the monostable configuration a high to low transition on the trigger pin starts the
timer.
• The output pulses during astable operation and goes high for a set time in
monostable operation.
Results

Input:
When the low level the motor is ON.

Output:
When the high level the motor is OFF.
Advantages
• The automatic water level control devices are capable of controlling the functions
of the motor and help to reduce the consumption of electricity.
• Thereby wastage of water and power can be reduced considerably.
• It also protects the motor from running dry and thus ensures durability.

Application

• It is suitable for 1 or 3 phase motor.

• It continuously monitors the liquid level of the overhead tank and reservoir.
• The Automatic pump controller controls the water pumps and turns it ON and OFF
with respect to the level in the water tank.
• This auto-switching feature saves manpower.
Conclusion
• The proposed flexible automatic water level controller and indicator without any
microcontroller is implemented and found working satisfactorily.
• The flexibility of the choice of level of over head tank while pumping the
water from the underground tank is found making the distinction
• 366 among the available such water level controller circuits and economically
affordable
