INTRODUCTION
The Internet Of Things (IoT) refers to the ever- growing network of
physical objects that feature an ip address for internet connectivity,
and the communication that occurs between these objects and other
internet enbled Devices and systems.

In Simple Words, Internet of Things (IOT) is an ecosystem of

connected physical objects that are accessible through the internet.

It Is also referd to as Machine-to-Mahcine (M2M), Skynet or

Internet of Everything.
4

The Internet of Things (IOT) is the network of physical object or “things”

embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity, which
enables these objects to collect and exchange data. IOT allows existing network
infrastructure, creating oppurtunities for more direct intergration between the
physical world and computer-based system, and resulting in improved
efficiency, accuracy and economic benefit.

These devices collect useful data with the help of various existing
technologies and then autonomously flow the data between other devices
5

“Things,” in the IoT senses, can refer to a wide variety of devices such
as heart monitoring implants, biochip transponders on farm animals,
electric clams in costrol waters, automobiles with built-in sensors, DNA
analysis devices for environmental/food/pathogen monitoring or field
operation devices that assist fire-fighters in search and rescue
operations.
HISTORY OF IOT 6

The concept of the Internet of Things first became popular in 1999,

through the Auto-ID center at MIT and releated market-analysis
publications. Radio-Frequency identification (RFID) was seen as a
prerequisite for the IoT at the point. If all objects and people in daily
life were equipped with identifiers, computers and couls manage and
inventory them. Besides using RFID, the tagging of things may be
achived through such technologies as near field communication
barcodes, QR codes, Bluetooth, and digital watermarking.
HOW IoT Works 7

Internet of Things is not the result of a single novel technology; instead, several complementary
technical developments provide capabilities that taken together help to bridge the gap between the
virtual and physical world

Components of IoT

Smart System and internet of Things are driven by a combination of :

1) Sensors

2) Connectivity

3) People & Process

4) User Inerface
10

1. Sensors
A sensors is a device that measure physical impact from its environment and converts it into that can be
interpreted by a computer.

For example : Spee, Lights, Sound and preassure.

2. Connectivity
Several communications protocols and technologies are used in IOT to connect to
internet cloud. Depending upon range, cost, power usage and data rate etc. The right one
used.

For example : Bluetooth, mobiles phones and WI-FI

11

3. Data Processing
In the processing stage, a computer transform the raw data into information. The
transform carried out by using different data manipulation techniques.

For example: Collecting feed of all electrical appliances and extracting car number
from video feed of speeding cars.

4. User interface
The information processed is made available to the end user in some way, like giving
alerts, Notification, Monitoring Continious feed or controlling the system remotely.
Why IoT

Dynamic control of industry and daily life.

Improves the resources utilization ratio.

Intergrating human society and physical systems.

Flexible Configuration

Act as technology integrator

Universal inter-networking
Corporate Aspect

IoT is transformational force that can help companies improve performance through IoT
analytics and IoT security to deliver better result. Businesses in the utilities, oil & gas,
insurance, manufacturing, transportation, infrastructure and retail sectors can reap the
benefits of iot by making more informed decisions, aided by the torrent of intractional and
transactional data at their disposal.
How Can IoT Help
IoT platforms can help organizations reduce cost through improved
process efficiency, asset utilization and productivity.

The growth and convergance of data, processes and things on the

internet world make such connections more relavant and
important, creating more oppurtunities for people, businesses and
industries.
