Logicism

Logicism is the view that mathematics is a branch of logic. It was introduced by Gottlob Frege and Bertrand Russell, who argued that all of mathematics can be deduced from pure logic alone, without concepts like numbers or sets. Richard Dedekind also embraced logicism, believing that all mathematical concepts, including numbers and geometry, could be defined logically.

LOGICISM
Logic
is the study of correct reasoning or good
arguments. It is often defined in a more narrow
sense as the science of deductively valid
inferences or of logical truths.
LOGICISM, school of mathematical thought
introduced by the 19th–20th-century German
mathematician Gottlob Frege and the British
mathematician Bertrand Russell, which holds that
mathematics is actually logic. Logicists contend that all
of mathematics can be deduced from pure logic, without
the use of any specifically mathematical concepts, such
as number or set.

Logicism is the view that mathematical truths are

ultimately logical truths. This idea was introduced
by Frege. He endorsed logicism in conjunction
with Platonism, but logicism is consistent with
various anti-Platonist views as well.
