RADAR SYSTEM
CLASSIFICATION OF RADAR
PRIMARY RADAR
reflected ECHO . SECONDARY RADAR It detects the object where radiated signal is send by the transmitter on board the target rather by reflection . It locates the object by transmitting signals and detects by the
2. B-Scope It provides a2d top to down representation of the object. It shows the vertical axis typically representing range and the horizontal axis azimuth .
4. PPI Scope display provides a 2-D "all round" display of the airspace around a radar site. The distance out from the center of the display indicates range, and the angle around the display is the azimuth to the target.

BASIC PRINCIPLE :
The identification of Friend and Foe (IFF) is basically a radar beacon system employed for the purposes of general identification of military targets. The beacon system when used for the control of civil air traffic is called as secondary surveillance radar (SSR).
ROHINI
It is a 3D multi-function medium range air surveillance radar mounted on a modified heavy truck called "Tetra" and supported by a mobile auxiliary power unit. System has been designed to detect and track multiple targets flying simultaneously and determine their altitude. Its horizontal detection range is in excess of 170 km and at least 15 km in altitude. It can detect low altitude targets as well as supersonic aircraft It is provided with Electronic Counter Counter Measure (ECCM) capabilities including frequency agility and jammer analysis.
Key Features
Medium range 3D surveillance S band operation Surveillance Range up to 180 km Covers elevation of up to 18 km in height High altitude deployability Deployment in less than 20 minutes 150 Targets in TWS Array of ECCM features Integrated IFF Capable of detecting low altitude targets, and supersonic aircraft flying at up to Mach3 Frequency agility and jammer analysis
