How to Correct Dangling Modifiers.
Modifiers describe other words in a sentence or make their meaning more
specific. A modifier can be a descriptive word such as an adjective or adverb, or
it can be a group of words such as a phrase or clause.

(The adjective hectic modifies school year.)

A dangling modifier occurs when the intended subject of the modifier is
missing from the sentence.

Correct the dangling modifiers in the passage.

To earn money over the summer, there was a job at my local pet store.
After filling out an application form, the manager hired me. While standing
at the register, a rabbit got out of its cage. Acting quickly, the rabbit was

How to Correct Dangling Modifiers.
To earn money over the summer, I took a job at my local pet store. After
I filled out an application form, the manager hired me. While I was standing
at the register, a rabbit got out of its cage. Acting quickly, I caught the
rabbit. Pleased by my quick action, the manager promoted me that day.

What Changed?
The first sentence was rewritten to add the subject I.  The second and third

sentences were rewritten to begin with a subordinate clause with its own
subject. In the fourth sentence, the subject I was added. In the fifth sentence,
the subject the manager was added and me was added as an object.

Describe a job that you have had or would like to have, including at least three
sentences with modifying phrases. Use highlighting to mark the modifiers and
their subjects.
