What Is Ecology
• Ecology is the study of the relationships of living organisms to each other and their
surroundings.
Habitat
• The place where an organism lives, it its habitat. It is a place that is suitable to its way of
life.
Kinds Of Habitat
The main types of habitats are;
• Fresh water, e.g. pond, streams and rivers
• Salt water (marine), e.g. oceans and seas
• Terrestrial habitats, e.g, farmland, savanna, rainforest and deserts
• Arboreal habitats, e.g. tree trunks, tree tops and air
Vegetation Zones Of Nigeria And Africa
The local biomes in Nigeria can be divided into:
• Forest and
• Savanna
