• 1 PURPOSE
The high speed diesel HSD system will be designed to provide
sufficient qualified HSD to the start-up of boiler. The design of system
will be based on the BMCR (Maximum Continuous Rating). The high
speed diesel (HSD) system will be used for boiler start-up, shut-down
and low load purposes of up to 45% MCR. ( about oil 54t/h )
• 2 OIL UNLOADING PUMP (4sets) AND INTERTANK
TRANSFER PUMPS
• Four sets of screw unloading pump are installed to discharge the
HSD from truck tanker. Duplex suction strainers (one work and one
standby) are installed before the inlet of unloading pumps.
HSD measuring device will be installed on the pipe from outlet of
unloading pump to tank(2 tanks, each 1200m3), capable for indicating
the flow in the control room.
• INTERTANK TRANSFER PUMPS are for oil transfer between two oil tank.

Introduction of screw pump

Screw pump is a positive displacement rotor pump,


which depends on the volume change of the sealing
cavity formed by screw and bushing to suction and
discharge liquid. The screw pump is characterized by
stable flow, small pressure fluctuation, self-priming
capacity, low noise, high efficiency, long life and
reliable operation. Its outstanding advantages are that
it does not form eddy current when conveying
medium, is not sensitive to the viscosity of medium,
and can transport high viscosity medium.
Working principle of Screw pump

• The rotation of the driving and driven screws forms a seal cavity that moves at a
uniform speed along the axial direction between the teeth. They are like a series of
pistons that always move in one direction, which smoothly transports the liquid
from the inlet to the outlet.
Specifications
• 1. Each screw pump is equipped with a pressure relief valve to protect
the discharge line from overpressure due to malfunction of pressure
control or off-normal operation. Adjustable external safety relief valve
for each pump is installed and connected to return line. Safety valve
setting value is 1.15 times of the pump working pressure.
• 2. The pump shall not be started without liquid or when the outlet valve
is fully closed. Before starting, the pump shall be filled with liquid;
• 3. When the temperature of conveying liquid is higher than 60 ℃,
preheating shall be carried out according to the provisions of technical
documents of the equipment;
• 4. During the test run, check whether the safety valve is sensitive and
reliable.
Special precautions for starting operation
• Before the pump is operated, the sealing cavity must be filled
with medium to keep good lubrication. Dry friction is strictly
prohibited to cause seal failure.
• The safety device of the pump is the coupling guard. Before the
pump runs, the coupling guard must be installed in place to
avoid injury to the staff!
3. HSD forwarding pumps and oil booster pumps
• Forwarding pumps(2sets) and oil booster pumps (2sets) are
horizontal multistage centrifugal oil pumps.
• The HSD forwarding pumps and oil booster pumps will transfer
the HSD with reasonable pressure to meet the requirement of
the burners for the boiler. Duplex suction strainer (one work
and one standby) are installed at the main pipe before
forwarding pumps to filter out impurities and guarantee the
safe operation of pump.

Precautions

• 1. The foundation bolts must be tightened, and the unit shall


be checked every certain interval to prevent it from loosening,
so as to prevent the pump performance from being affected by
the huge vibration during the start-up and operation of the
pump;
• 2. Oil flow must more than 30%
• 3. If the pump outlet valve is closed, the pump running not
more than 2 min.
Special precautions for operation and maintenance

• Regular maintenance shall be carried out according to the


maintenance provisions of the operation and maintenance
manual, if the operation is good, it can not be maintained).
• The safety device of the pump is the coupling guard. Before the
pump runs, the coupling guard must be installed in place to
avoid injury to the staff!
4. Transfer pumps
• Two transfer pumps(Flow16.9t/h) with duplex suction strainers
to guarantee the supply oil quality will supply HSD to the oil
tanks for fire fighting diesel pumps, auxiliary boiler house,
diesel generator, vehicle fill station.
5. Duplex strainer
• SDGLQ type oil filter belongs to pump filter, which is an essential
equipment for process pipeline, storage and transportation pipeline
in petroleum, chemical industry and other industries. It is generally
installed at the inlet of various pumps, compressors, flow meters and
other instruments or other parts of system pipeline to filter solid
particles from various liquids, prevent nozzle blockage, damage to oil
pump and other equipment, and protect pipes, valves and other
accessories To protect the normal operation of these devices. Double
cartridge filter is a combination of two filters, one for use and one for
standby, which can be switched freely.

• HSD will be supplied from the HSD storage tank by the oil pumps to the
main boiler ignition system. Return oil of boiler goes back into the return
main pipe through return oil operation platform, and then back to oil
tank. Flow measurement devices are installed for supply and return
pipes.
