the enhancement of different aspects of your life, such as how you view yourself and your
effectiveness in living. It includes developing positive life skills and realistic self-esteem.

• Personality – integrated organization of physical, emotional, intellectual, social,


psychological and spiritual characteristics of an individual.

• Development – an ongoing process.


NATURE VS NURTURE

Nature
• Human personality and behavior is a result of inherited instincts and traits.

Nurture
• Human personality and behavior is a result of the environment around us.

• Heredity – genetic characteristics that are passed from parent to child.


• Cultural environment – people are influenced by the type of society/culture that they live
in.
• Birth order – people are influenced by their relationship to their siblings or by not having
any siblings.
• Parental characteristics – people are influenced by who their parents are and how their
parents act.

INTELLIGENCE, ATTRACTIVENESS, EFFICIENCY,
STYLE DETERMINE HIS/HER PERSONALITY.
WHY IS PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT IMPORTANT?

• Personality development grooms an individual and helps him make a mark of his/her own.
- Individuals need to have a style of their own for others to follow them.
• Personality development goes a long way in reducing stress and conflicts.
- it encourages individuals to look at the brighter sides of life.
• Personality development helps you develop a positive attitude in life.
- an individual with a negative attitude finds a problem in every situation.
• Personality development plays an essential role not only in an individual’s
professional but also personal lives.
- It makes an individual disciplined, punctual and as asset for his/her organization.
• Personality development helps an individual to inculcate positive qualities like punctuality,
flexible attitude, willingness to learn, friendly nature, eagerness to help others and so on.
- never hesitate to share information with others. Always reach office on time. Some people
have a tendency to work till late.

apart from the rest.

• Personality does not mean that you should have look – the personality of an
individual is determined by his/her appearance, behavior, attitude, education,
values and some more varying characteristics.
• Dress up well – focus on how you should dress up for office, party or any other
occasion.
• Each person is unique – remember that each individual is different and has
his/her unique characteristics and qualities.
• Do not avoid social interactions – just because you feel you are not good
looking, do not avoid meeting people.
• Make yourself known – brand yourself in all your communications.
• Don’t give up – I know this sounds like an obvious one to end on, but there are loads of
people who literally could have made it through with only a few weeks or months of effort.
• Know your positives – if every individual has his or her limitations, then he or she also
has positives.
• Get out of your comfort zone – be prepared to challenge yourself by learning new skills.
• Don’t fear failure – don’t worry about making mistakes, you will make loads in journey
and a lot of them may hold you back for a while, but once you’ve made them, these
methods can be eliminated and you can move on.
• Be funny and don’t be serious always – no one likes boring
and serious people. Everyone enjoys the company of
someone who makes them laugh.
• Each person is unique – remember that each individuals is
different and has his/her unique characteristics and qualities.
Different Types of Personality
Let us go through the following personality types:

1. The Duty Fulfiller – such individuals take their roles and


responsibilities seriously and perform whatever tasks are assigned
to them.
2. The Mechanic – as the name suggests such individuals are
inclined towards machinery like airplane, motorcycling, cars, races
and so on.
3. The Nurturer – nurturers are individuals with large heart.

4. The Artist – artist have an eye for natural beauty and creativity.
5. The protector – you would find such a personality type in very few
people, making it a very rare personality type.
6. The Idealist – such people have strong set of values and ethics.
7. The Scientist – such individuals believe in careful and strategic
planning.
8. The Doer – individuals with such personality type are the ones
who believe in quick actions and immediate results.
9. The Guardian – such individuals are perfectionists who ensure
that everything everywhere is going on smoothly.
10.The Performer – performers strive hard to grab attention of
others and love being to the centre of attention.
11.The Inspirer – inspires are talented individuals and often act as
a role model for others.
12. The Giver – individuals with ‘’THE GIVER’’ personality type enjoy
the company of others and do not prefer staying alone.
13. The Executive – such individuals are born to lead and make very
good leaders. They love taking charge and are good decision makers.
