Some children engage in attention-
seeking behavior, craving interaction
and acknowledgment from teachers or
peers. This behavior can manifest as
calling out in class, disrupting activities,
or seeking constant reassurance.

Family Environment
Parenting styles, family dynamics, and the presence of
support systems all influence a child’s upbringing. Different
parenting style can shape a child’s behavior and attitudes.
Positive family dynamics, open communication, and access to
support systems, whether through extended family or
community resources, contribute to a child’s overall
psychological well-being and development.
Peer Influence
Healthy peer relationships offer children valuable
opportunities to learn social skills, cooperation, and empathy.
These interactions teach children how to navigate social
situations, resolve conflicts, and build lasting friendships.
Positive peer experiences can boost a child’s self-esteem and
confidence. Conversely, negative peer experiences, such as
bullying or social isolation, can have a profound impact on a
child’s social development.
School Environment
A supportive and engaging school setting can enhance a
child’s cognitive skills, such as problem-solving, critical
thinking, and academic achievement. It also offers opportunities
for social development by encouraging teamwork,
communication, and cooperation among peers.
Media and Technology
The media and technology landscape also influence
children's behavior. Exposure to various forms of media,
including television, video games, and the internet, can shape
attitudes, values, and behavior patterns. Monitoring and
regulating media consumption are essential for promoting
positive behavior.
Biological factors
Furthermore, biological factors can shape an individual's
behavior and personality. Genetic factors contribute to certain
behavioral tendencies, such as risk-taking behavior or
impulsivity. Brain structure and chemistry also impact aspects
of personality, including temperament, emotional regulation,
and resilience.
Community and cultural influences
Cultural gaps can cause teachers to misinterpret students'
behavior, which can lead to conflict. These conflicts can have a
range of effects: students feeling misunderstood or
marginalized, higher rates of discipline referrals, and students
leaving school altogether.
Individual Differences
Although there are standard patterns of behavior that we
could expect from everyone, the variations can be largely
explained by differences between us. For example, a person
with an introverted personality may be perceived as "stuck up"
by extroverted coworkers. Actually, the opposite may be true.
