FUEL PENALTY FACTOR TABLES

When should we consult it ?

Anytime the ECAM:

‐ Displays the line INCREASED FUEL CONSUMP in the STATUS SD


page.

‐ Displays Flight Control Surfaces in the INOP SYS.

‐ Displays a Landing Gears or Landing Gear Doors retraction FAULT.


How to use it:

The methodology is as follow:

‐ Check the ECAM ALERT table


to determine if a Fuel Penalty
Factor is applicable depending on
the CONDITIONS column.

THEN
How to use it:

Check the INOP SYS table in


order to determine if, according
to the actual aircraft status, there
is a Fuel Penalty Factor
applicable depending on the
CONDITIONS column.
How to use it:

Once the Fuel Penalty Factor


determined.
The Crew will determine the
NEW TRIP FUEL
By
(FOB - EFOB at DEST)
x
FPF
Example:

Flight from SHJ to DEL you got an AC BUS 1 FAULT:

FOB: 6000 KGS.

EFOB AT DEST: 2500 KG.


Example:

AC BUS 1 FAULT:
Example:

FOB: 6000 KG.


EFOB AT DESTINATION: 2500 KG.

(FOB – EFOB AT DEST) X FPF = (6000 – 2500) X 0 = 0

NO FUEL PENALTY.
Example:

Flight from SHJ to DEL you got a G + B SYS LO PR :

FOB: 6000 KG.

EFOB AT DEST: 2500 KG.

MINIMUM REQUIRED FUEL AT DESTINATION 2400 KG.


Example:

G+B SYS LO PR:


Example:

FOB: 6000 KG.


EFOB AT DESTINATION: 2500 KGS

(FOB – EFOB AT DEST) = (6000 – 2500) = 3500 KG


3500 X 15% = 525 KG
3500 + 525 = 4025 KG.

Trip fuel increased by 525 Kg.

MINIMUM REQUIRED FUEL AT DESTINATION 2400 KG.

NEW EFOB AT DESTINATION: 1975 KG.


Example:

Flight from SHJ to DEL:

SHJ wx below minimum

FOB: 10000 KG

EFOB AT DEST: 2500 KG

L/G GEAR NOT UPLOCK:

Followed by:

HYD G RSRV LO LVL


In this case a HYD G RSRV LO LVL lead to a secondary Failure.
How to deal with the penalty factors in these situations ?

IF TWO OR MORE FUEL PENALTY FACTORS (FPF) ARE


APPLICABLE THEN:

TRIP FUEL PENALTY = (FOB - EFOB AT DEST) X (FPF1 + FPF2 +...)

Example:
TRIP FUEL PENALTY = (FOB - EFOB AT DEST) X (FPF1 + FPF2)

10000 – 2500 = 7500 KG

7500 X (180 % + 9%) = 14175 KG

PENALTY IS 14175 KG

TRIP FUEL BECOMES 7500 + 14175
