INTERSEX

 1 in 100 Americans is intersex. Around 2% of people worldwide have intersex traits.


Intersex is often mistaken as transgender
 Intersex is the congenital presence of partial, reproductive or sexual anatomy of
opposite sex. Present in 40 different ways.
Intersex

 People who are intersex may have a mix of chromosomes.

 Some cells of person have XXY, and XY and some cells that
are XX, have just one X chromosome (XO)or have other
combinations.

 Mixed genitals and sex organs: A person who is intersex may


have ovarian and testicular tissue (ovotestes).
How a person know if they are intersex

If the person don’t have noticeable genital changes at birth, it’s


possible not to know that they are intersex.

No onset of puberty or amenorrhea (no menstruation in females)

Changes during puberty that don’t match with assigned sex.

Unable to give birth to babies


Gender Identity Issues
 Gender identity is each person’s internal and
individual experience of gender.
 It is a person’s sense of being a woman, a man,
both, neither, or anywhere along the gender
spectrum.
 Gender expression is how a person publicly
expresses or presents their gender.
 This can include behavior and outward
appearance such as dress, hair, make-up, body
language and voice.
Gender Dysphoria (GD)
 Gender dysphoria is the sense of mismatch between physical sex (body)
and psychological gender identity (mind).
 People with gender dysphoria are experiencing a painful war within
themselves.
 Our minds are constantly changing, especially when we are teenagers.
 Research says that gender dysphoria typically resolves itself.
 Research identified that if it is not affirmed, on average 80% of children
change their minds and do not continue into adulthood with gender
identity issues.
Trans gender
 Trans or transgender is a term referring to people with different
gender identities and expressions that differ from normal genres-
male and female.
 It includes people who identify as transgender, trans woman
(male-to-female MTF), trans man (female-to-male FTM),
transsexual, cross-dressers, or gender non-conforming, gender
variant or gender queer.
Causes for Gender Dysphoria

No one knows exactly what causes gender dysphoria.

Studies show childhood maltreatment ( abuse, neglect, trauma,) single


parents, absence of father figure, presence of transgender close family,
peer pressure, exposure to transgender activities.
The neuronal differentiation in the hypothalamic networks is altered
during first trimester(hypo).

Endocrine disruptors may be the cause of high fetal testosterone


exposure leading to increased risk of GD(hypo).
Signs and symptoms

be the other gender
 Want to dress in the clothes used by another gender
 Prefer toys and activities of the other gender
 Play with children of the other gender
 Dont like their genitals
 Want to have the physical characteristics of the other gender
Complications of Gender Dysphoria

Difficulty in doing daily Anxiety, depression, self-


activities and academics, Poor relation with god,self, harm, eating disorders,
school drop out, parents and friends. substance misuse and other
unemployment. problems can occur.

You are not defined by


Affirm that you are God
your sexuality but a son or
creation and loves you
daughter of God.

Believe you are the body


You are precious and loved of Christ and individually
and worthy of good things. members of it and God
created you in His image.

 Being His child is the number one


priority.
 Because you are His child and you
are valued and loved
 He died because He wants to spend
eternity with you.
Tips for Christians with Gender Dysphoria

 Seek treatment -medical, spiritual and psychological


 Run from sin, stay away from all worldly pleasures and friends.​
 Stay away from media, friends, institutions favoring homosexuality.
 Associate with people who love God and disagree with
homosexuality.
You are  Despite our sex or how we feel about our
gender identity, we are called to holiness and to
called to live a life of self-giving love.

Holiness  Pray constantly for holiness, only God’s grace


can make us holy.
 Do- frequent confession, daily holy mass,
personal prayer and charity .
Christian attitude towards Gender Dysphoria people

 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Gal 6:2
 Show compassion as Jesus, to the humble and resist the proud.
 Practice the ability to understand the broken sinner and lead them to
holiness through your holy life, actions, and prayer.
 Support the non-Christian GD person with the hope of the Gospel.
Christian attitude towards Gender Dysphoria people

 Understand that the brokenness of this person is not mostly their


sexual orientation or gender questioning.
 The most important thing they need is to know Christ.
 Teach them, salvation is in Christ alone.
 Salvation is not in having sexual attractions with the opposite gender
or identifying with your biological gender.
