DETAILS ABOUT THE PROJECT (ANICUT)

SCOPE OF WORK :-

• The scope of work for an Anicut Dam typically includes site assessment, design, construction, and
maintenance.

• This involves surveying the location, determining water flow, designing the structure,
obtaining necessary approvals, and constructing the structures of all components of WTP, OHTs and
Intake well.

• Maintenance may involve periodic inspections, repairs, and ensuring proper functioning to control
water flow for irrigation or other purposes for a duration of 10 years.
Address Of Project : Kotar, Satna District, Madhya
Pradesh

Duration Of Project : 5 years

Start Date : 20 September 2019

Estimated Completion Of Project : 30 December 2024

Water Treatment Plant
• A water treatment plant is a facility designed to purify and process water, making it safe for
various uses like drinking, industrial processes, or environmental discharge. The treatment
involves removing impurities, contaminants, and pathogens from raw water to meet specific
quality standards.

• The treatment of water at a WTP is done by a no of steps which are as follows-

1. Intake: Raw water is collected from a natural source, like rivers or lakes.
2. Screening: Large debris is removed to prevent damage to equipment.
3. Coagulation and Flocculation: Chemicals are added to clump together impurities for easier removal.
4. Sedimentation: The water sits undisturbed, allowing particles to settle at the bottom.
5. Filtration: Remaining impurities are removed by passing water through filters (sand, gravel, or
membranes).
6. Disinfection: Chemicals (like chlorine) or other methods are used to kill or inactivate remaining pathogens.
7. pH Adjustment: The water's acidity or alkalinity is adjusted for optimal treatment.
8. Storage: Treated water is stored in reservoirs before distribution.
9. Distribution: Clean water is sent through a network of pipes to consumers.
10. Monitoring and Control: Continuous testing ensures water quality meets regulatory standards.

These steps may vary based on the specific type of water treatment plant and the characteristics of the source

LAYOUT MARKING FOR FILTER BED

METHODOLOGY
• Site selection
Ensure the site is easily accessible for the transportation of raw materials, chemicals, and equipment, as
well as for the distribution of treated water.

• Designing of structure
The design of structures in a water treatment plant is critical to ensure the efficient and effective treatment of water.
Here are some key considerations for designing various structures within a water treatment plant-
Design Flow Rate: Determine the design flow rate of the water treatment plant, considering factors such as peak demand,
population growth projections, seasonal variations, and emergency scenarios. Ensure that the plant's capacity is sufficient
to meet current and future water demand.
Resilience and Redundancy: Design the water treatment plant with resilience and redundancy to ensure reliability and
continuity of service, even under adverse conditions such as power outages, equipment failures, or natural disasters.
Incorporate backup systems, emergency generators, and redundant treatment units where feasible.
Infrastructure and Site Layout: Design the layout of the water treatment plant and its infrastructure components (e.g.,
treatment units, pipelines, storage tanks) to optimize space utilization, facilitate operational efficiency, and minimize
environmental impact. Consider factors such as accessibility, traffic flow, and future expansion needs.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the design of the water treatment plant complies with applicable
regulatory standards, guidelines, and permits issued by regulatory authorities. Obtain necessary permits
and approvals before construction begins, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
throughout the plant's operation.

• Permitting and Approvals:

Obtain necessary permits and approvals from local authorities, government agencies, and regulatory
bodies before commencing construction. This may include environmental clearances, building permits,
and approvals from the water department.

• Construction works should be done according to approved design from government department
