● Main Lab A fully in-office-based classification, where employees expect to spend the
majority of their time working in an office (80-100% of an employee’s working hours). To
select this classification, you must be within 60 miles of a Cockroach Labs office.
● Mixing Lab A flexible, hybrid, in-office-based classification, where employees expect to
spend their time periodically in a Cockroach Labs office (Less than 80% of an employee’s
working hours) and also working from other locations. To select this classification, you must
be within 60 miles of a Cockroach Labs office.
● NODES This is a fully remote-based classification, where employees expect to spend the
majority of their time working remotely. Employees can travel to the nearest Cockroach Labs
office once a quarter. To select this classification, you must be over 60 miles from a
Cockroach Labs office (exceptions considered).

New Roacher Onboarding
We use our onboarding period (MOLT - Month Of Learning Things) to focus on getting new
Roachers up to speed with Cockroach Labs and our products.
Week 1 We start off focusing on how we operate at Cockroach Labs and why this opportunity to
build a database is special. Over your first week, we give an introduction to CockroachDB. If you’re
unfamiliar with what a database is, we’ll start you off there, but if you’ve worked with databases
before, we’ll share a deep dive into how ours works.
Month 1 We strive to make Cockroach Labs one team, where we do our best work. Throughout your
first month, we give you insight into what other teams work on to get us to our mission of enabling
every developer to build world-changing applications. It’s a way to highlight work and roles that you
may be unfamiliar with but also share ways that you can collaborate and support those departments.
We onboard new hires every 2 weeks to keep a consistent onboarding cycle and to have new hires
join with others. We know that ramping up at a new company takes time, so we encourage you to use
your first month to learn, digest and ask questions. We also begin our Onboarding classes remotely
to create a consistent employee experience for all our remote, hybrid, and on-site Roachers. Read

Supporting a Distributed Roacher
Workforce
Whether you’re joining us on site or working remotely, we want to make sure that you are
set up for success in your role!
Reimbursements All full-time remote employees will receive a $1000 stipend to set up their
workspace at home, hybrid full-time employees receive a $500 stipend, and remote interns
receive a $500 stipend. We also reimburse your internet (up to $80USD monthly).
Roach & Relaxation Days Periodic company holidays to reset and recharge. It is important
that while we continue to commit to excellence every day when we log on to our computers,
we should also be focused on our passions outside of work.
Flexibility We care about productivity, not face time. We aim to empower you to do your
best work when you’re online and ensure that you feel supported when other priorities need
attention. Through flexible hours, flexible vacation, and Flex Fridays, it’s our hope that
Roachers have the space they need to establish balance.
Culture & Connection Our Workplace Experience team has worked hard to create
connections for Roachers, even while many of us are remote. We have no shortage of both
ongoing and ad hoc events that will allow you to get to know your new teammates--in fact,
we're incredibly excited to share that as of Spring 2022, we’ve started to host in person
