Past Continuous describes actions that
were in progress at a specific time in the
past.

Definition: The Past Continuous tense is


used to indicate an ongoing action that
was happening at a certain moment in
the past.

Subject + was/were + verb-ing

Examples:
I was writing an article.
She was cooking at 7 o’clock this morning.

Usage of Past Continuous
Tense

1. Describing an Ongoing Past


Action: Actions that were happening at
a specific moment in the past.


Example: "At 8 PM last night, I was doing
my homework."

same time.

Example: “While she was cooking, he
