Learning Process
DAILY ROUTINE:-

 The store opens at around 8:30a.m.in the morning.

 I used to work at store for 3 hrs from 6:30p.m. to 9:30 p.m. including Sundays
 This hospital comprises of mainly 2 doctors whose main working hours are from
6:00pm to 11:00pm. The peak hours are from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm
 After reaching the store I used to take part in the activities in pharmacy and
observe the ongoing activities thoroughly and gather information through the staff
operating.
Dispensing of drugs
1) Dispensing of Drugs for OPD (Outpatient Department) Patients:
 Drugs are dispensed to patients according to the prescription. In case of high price, patients
are allowed to get the medicines period and for the left out dose, they come to the
pharmacy next time.
 As patients do not accept brand substitution, only drugs prescribed by the physican are kept
in the pharmacy.
 The dispensing of drugs is handled with utmost care and precision.
Pharmacists ensure that each prescription is accurately filled, verifying dosages and
instructions to avoid any errors. Patients are counseled on the proper use of medications,
potential side effects, and the importance of adherence to their treatment.
A well-organized inventory is maintained to ensure the availability of essential drugs,
providing timely service to all patients.
Dispensing of drugs
 From 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the hospital primarily focuses on serving in-patient
department (IPD) patients. During these hours, outpatient department (OPD) services are not
available. OPD services resume outside this time window, ensuring dedicated attention to IPD
care in the afternoon. This schedule allows for more efficient patient management within the
hospital.

 Many Patient Argue for the another brand of the same medicine but only the precibed by
the physician is provided to them and no drug is procure without prescription unless not order
by the physician

Learning Outcomes
 Learning outcomes : During my 150 hours of internship at “Ashokaa”, I came to know
that the role of pharmacist is very crucial in a community pharmacy. Still there is a room
for the development of a role of pharmacist in clinical aspects as well. It may take time
to establish our role in community setting but nothing is impossible for a willing heart.
 Throughout My Training Period, I Was Able To Acquire Knowledge On The Following:
 System of drug procurement in hospital pharmacy.
 Pharmacology of various OTC drugs.
 Dispensing of drugs.
 Marketing strategy of different brands.
 Guide the patient about the disease and its medication
