What is fixed wing
UAV?
A Fixed wing UAV, is
an aircraft that operates
without an onboard
human pilot. Instead, it
is controlled remotely
by a human operator or
autonomously through
pre-programmed flight
paths.

Mission
Requirements 1)Maximum take-off weight 10kg
2) 15 min minimum flight time required
3) Dimensions of Payload box
20x15x12.5 cm
4) UAV having autonomous capabilities
5) Waypoint planning
6) Portable/Compact
7) Payload dropping mechanism
8) Power off autonomous gliding (from
350ft)
9) Camera, Onboard computer
Conceptual Design
The Hybrid design was chosen as multirotor won’t be
able to do the power off gliding and fixed wing UAV
won’t be good in gusty conditions.

Wing Configuration –
High winger with
powered glider aspect
ratio.

Pusher configuration was chosen as we need to

mount airspeed sensor and camera at in the
front part.

▫ Better lift distribution.
▫ Drag is less
▫ Lift/Drag ratio is good for
better gliding.
▫ It has predictable and
gentle stall characteristics.
