About Us
 A presentation is a collection of slides arranged in a
sequential manner to convey, persuade, motivate, and
entertain or to provide information. It can be projected on a
big screen by attaching the computer with a multimedia
projector.
 A presentation has the following elements: a. Regular Text,
Lists items b. Background and Title c. Graphical elements
like, Clip Arts, Shapes, Diagrams, 3D objects, Table, etc.
 A slide can be defined as a digital or an electronic page of
a presentation. A slide show is a sequential display of
slides, which is shown to the audience with an objective of
providing information and exchanging ideas/views on a
particular topic
 Three presentation software are: LibreOffice Impress,
Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Connect
Presentation
The basic purpose of a PowerPoint
presentation is to communicate information or
media through a series of slides. Along with
regular text, your slides can contain numerous
types of content such as tables, images,
drawings, charts, links, word art, videos, audio
and even embedded add-ins from Microsoft.
The software also has built-in editing tools
that you can use to resize, position and update
content without needing to open items in
other applications.

Elements of Presentation
User interface: the screens, dialog boxes, buttons,
panes, and other parts of the application window.
Slides: the PowerPoint element on which you
insert text, graphics, audio, video, and animations.
Content: the information and messages you want
to convey to your audience.
Formatting: the design, layout, color, font, and
style of your slides and content.
Presentation playback: the mode in which you
deliver your presentation to your audience, using
animations, transitions, and narration .
Characteristics of a Good Presentation
 Slide Master: The Slide Master feature allows users
to define the overall layout, font styles, and colour
scheme for the entire presentation.
 Animations and Transitions: PowerPoint offers
various animation effects and slide transitions to add
visual interest and captivate the audience.
 Collaboration Tools: MS PowerPoint allows multiple
users to work on a presentation simultaneously,
making it ideal for team projects and remote
collaboration.
 Presenter View: The Presenter View feature gives
presenters access to speaker notes, a timer, and a
preview of upcoming slides, enabling a seamless
presentation experience.
Saving a Presentation
 Step 1 - Click on the File tab to launch
the Backstage view and select Save.
 Step 2 − In the Save As dialog, type in the
file name and click "Save".
 Step 3 − The default file format is .pptx. If
you want to save the file with a different
name, choose one of the file types from the
"Save as type" dropdown list.
Saving a Presentation using Password
We can follow the given steps to save a presentation by using the
password protection:
 Step 1 — Click on the File tab and select the Save option from the
drop-down menu.
 Step 2 — The Save As dialog box appears.
 Step 3 — Click on the drop-down arrow of the Tools tab and select
the General Options.
 Step 4 — The General Options dialog box will appear, displaying
the two fields: 'Password to open' and 'Password to modify'.
 Step 5 — Type the desired password in the Password to open text
box. Click on OK.
 Step 6 — The Confirm Password dialog box appears. Re-enter the
password in order to confirm the password. Then, click on OK.
 Step 7 — If the password matches, the presentation is saved with
a password protection. If the passwords do not match, we receive
the prompt message to enter the password again.
Saving a Presentation in PDF
i. Select File > Export.
ii. Select Create PDF/XPS
Document, then select Create
PDF/XPS.
iii. In the Publish as PDF or
XPS dialog box, choose a
location to save the file to. If
you want it to have a different
Selecting a Slide Layout
o Step 1: On the navigation menu select
the Home option.
o Step 2: Under the home, section click on
the drop-down arrow of layout as shown in
figure:
o Step 3: A office theme dialog box will open
where you can choose a different slide layout.
o Step 4: Select the slide layout according to
your topic requirement.
 Finally, a slide layout is added to the
presentation.
Opening a Presentation
 Step-1: Click on the “File” Menu button
At the top left side of your Microsoft PowerPoint
application, you will find the ‘File’ menu option.
The first step is to click on it.

 Step-2: Click on “New”, and select the


“Blank Presentation” button
Now on your screen, you will find an option that
says ‘Blank Presentation’ for you to click on. A
new PowerPoint presentation with a blank slide
will be created once you click on it.
Closing a Presentation
 To close a presentation in PowerPoint, you
can follow these steps:
i. Click the File Tab.
ii. Click Close.
iii. If you have not saved the presentation since
making changes, a dialog box will appear
asking if you want to save changes to the
presentation. Click Save if you wish to save
your changes; click Don’t Save if you do not
want to save your changes; click Cancel if
you do not want to close the presentation.
