INTRODUCTION
Another trend in DBMS is the increasing use of Blockchain technology. Blockchain has become
increasingly popular due to its ability to provide secure, decentralized data storage. DBMS can utilize
Blockchain technology to provide a more secure and tamper-resistant way of storing data.

Database Management trends in 2022 include:


• Cloud-based DBMS
• Automation and DBMS
• Augmented DBMS
• Increased security
• In-memory databases
• Graph databases
• Open source DBMSs
• Databases-as-a-service
Cloud-based DBMS
• Cloud-based solutions are one of the biggest trends of the DBMS. The cloud has become very popular
as a way to access and manage data, and DBMS are no exception.
• The adoption of Cloud-based DBMS, also known as database-as-a-service (DBaaS) solutions, has
been driven by the need for more scalable, flexible, and cost-effective ways of storing and accessing
data.
• Cloud-based DBMS have become more popular because they allow organizations to easily scale their
databases up or down as needed, without the need for significant infrastructure investments.
• Additionally, Cloud-based solutions can be accessed from any place with the help of an internet
connection, making it easier for remote teams to collaborate and share data.
Automation and DBMS
• Database automation is the use of unattended processes and self-updating procedures for
administrative tasks in a database.
• The automation of databases and their procedures reduces errors on deployments, improves reliability
and increases the speed of implementing changes.
• Automation also frees up staff that might otherwise be occupied updating code and performing other
tasks, including patching, upgrading, failover, scaling, provisioning and recovery.
• Changes to databases pose a challenge because of their fundamental structure. Databases containing
schema, stored procedures and existing data are add complexity to when making changes.
Augmented DBMS
• Augmented data management is the application of AI to enhance or automate data management
tasks. It has the ability to support data talent, such as the above-mentioned data scientists, with time-
consuming and data-intensive tasks which might normally be done manually.
• It is time to manage your data smarter with artificial intelligence
• Augmented data management is gaining more and more traction. Reports by Gartner and Deloitte
identify it as a technology trend and highlight the gains that can be achieved when combining
artificial intelligence (AI) and data management.
• According to Gartner, machine learning and automation can reduce manual data management tasks
by 45 percent.
Increased security
• Database security includes a variety of measures used to secure database management systems from
malicious cyber-attacks and illegitimate use. Database security programs are designed to protect not
only the data within the database, but also the data management system itself, and every application that
accesses it, from misuse, damage, and intrusion.
• Continually scanning your database for breach attempts increases your security and lets you rapidly
react to possible attacks.
• In particular, File Integrity Monitoring (FIM) can help you log all actions carried out on the database's
server and to alert you of potential breaches
