Appropriation

•As cited by the famous painter Pablo Picasso


“Good artists copy, great artists steal”. These are
existing artworks that are appropriate to produce
another art and to look contemporary. It is a
combination of the new and old elements. It is
defined as the use of prints, images, and icons to
produce another art form. It combines past from
present and revives interests to existing forms of
art.

1. Visual or Space Arts – Are also


known as “Space Arts” simply
because they occupy space in
making and displaying them.
Examples of visual arts are Painting,
Sculpture, Architecture
•Painting – Are visual arts
that are expressed either by
lines, form, texture, value,
or color.
It is being used as
decorations, educational
device, etc

shaping, or molding. It deals mostly with the
human figure, animals, figurines, decorative

2. Auditory Arts – Are primarily
heard, they are also known as “Time
Arts” because they exist in time.
Examples are Literature, and Music.

Also called “Performing or

both visual and auditory
elements.
They are usually performed on
stage or on screen

motion. Motion pictures—also called movies, films,
or the cinema—are one of the most popular forms
of entertainment, enabling people to immerse
themselves in an imaginary world for a short
period of time
