• Karoshi is a Japanese term that


refers to occupation-related
sudden death (overwork death).
• The term first appeared in the
early 1980s.
• Karoshi can be a sudden stress-
induced heart attack or stroke, but
it can also refer to suicides
resulting from overwork.
