PRACTICAL RESEARCH 1

Artificial Intelligence
Changing Students Learning

Grade and Section: 11- ABM OVIEDO

OBJECTIVES
1.To investigate how artificial intelligence tools and
applications enhance student engagement and motivation in
learning environments.

2.To determine the positive and negative impacts of using too

much AI on students.

3.Explore potential solutions for students who depend heavily

on artificial intelligence (AI) in their studies.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
In today's educational environment, students face a
multitude of tasks, including assignments, quizzes, and
exams. As a result, many high school and junior high
school students are increasingly turning to artificial
intelligence (AI) for assistance. AI is a transformative
technology that can enhance both machine and human
capabilities, making tasks easier and more efficient. While
AI can help students focus on learning and understanding
material better, it is crucial to explore both the positive and
negative effects of its use. Our research aims to investigate
these effects, particularly emphasizing the potential
drawbacks of relying on AI in education.
BACKGROUND
While AI can provide valuable assistance, it often encourages
reliance that may hinder deep learning. For instance, some
students might prefer using AI to generate answers or summaries
instead of engaging deeply with the subject matter. This over-
reliance can lead to a lack of critical thinking skills, which are
essential for understanding and solving complex problems.
Additionally, if students depend too much on AI for their studies,
they may miss opportunities to develop their own ideas and
insights. This situation raises the question: Are we allowing
technology to do our thinking for us? By looking into these
issues, we can understand how AI changes students' learning
experiences and social lives.
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Our main goal is to find out if AI is helping students or if
it could be causing problems. As more students start using
AI, we need to know how it affects their study habits, future
job choices, and mental health. By doing this research, we
hope to gain and give useful advice to teachers, parents, and
students so that AI can be used in a way that helps everyone
without causing any negative effects. It’s important to find a
balance between using technology and keeping important
skills that students need for the future.

Synthesis

The review literature and studies have highlights both positive and negative effects of artificial intelligence(AI)on student
learning. The collective findings from studies conducted by Atienza et al., (2023), Miranda, Estrellado, (2023), Santos,
Reyes, Dela Cruz et al., (2024) researchers conduct this study to identify the importance of balancing the benefits and
drawbacks of AI in order to ensure its positive impacts. AI can certainly be a useful tool in improving educational
experiences, but students should not lose their capacity for critical and creative thinking. Educators should be able to direct
students on the responsible use of AI, to get them engaged with technology but also develop their innate abilities. In short,
AI is capable of either positively or negatively affecting student learning. With these effects in mind, educators can create
strategies for the responsible use of AI in the classroom so that students are able to exploit the benefits of technology while
still maintaining essential skills for the future. Therefore, it is essential to treat AI as a complement to human abilities
rather than as a replacement for them.
SIGNIFICANCE
OF THE STUDY
People 1: Students

1.This study is intended for students as it highlights how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can improve their
education, but it also makes them aware of potential issues. Knowing both the good and the bad will
help them use technology wisely in their learning journey.

People 2: Teachers

2.This study is significant for teachers it provides insights for about their impact on student
learning, especially in an age where AI plays a big role. It emphasizes the importance of
teaching students to balance the use of AI with their own thinking skills, fostering a deeper
understanding and learning experience.
SIGNIFICANCE
OF THE STUDY
People 3: Parents

3.This study is also valuable for parents as it informs them about the role of
AI in their children’s education. It enables them to better understand how
AI can enhance learning, address academic challenges, and prepare their
children for a technology-driven future. Additionally, it encourages parents
to support and guide their children in responsibly utilizing AI tools.
THEORETICAL
FRAMEWORK
Theory 1: Technological
Determinsm Theory

This study investigates the ethical implications and perspectives on the utilization of artificial
intelligence (AI) among graduate students in public administration, focusing on Basilan Province,
Philippines. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research integrates semi-structured
interviews, focus group discussions, and surveys to gather data. Findings reveal significant ethical
concerns, including privacy issues, algorithmic bias, and accountability challenges. Students
exhibit a range of attitudes toward AI, recognizing its potential benefits while also highlighting
associated risks (Lou Norman Flores, Frede Moreno.)
THEORETICAL
FRAMEWORK
Theory 2: Social Cognitive
Theory (SCT)

Theory of Albert Bandura (1986) suggests that learning and behavior are shaped by the interaction
between these three factors. The cognitive, behavioral, and environmental. In the research, cognitive
factors include students' beliefs, expectations, and self-efficiency regarding their capability to use AI for
learning. Behavioral factors contain the actions and behaviors that students demonstrate in their
interactions with AI technologies. This includes how students engage with AI tools, whether they actively
look for AI tools to learn or use AI to avoid taking responsibility for their learning.By examining this
three factors,we can gain comprehensive understanding of how AI influences students learning capacities
and how their perceptions and behaviors are shaped within the context of AI.
POSSIBLE METHODS
The method of research is called phenomenological methods which
we are going to conduct a survey to a students of kabankalan National
High School both Junior and Senior high school students and
interview their experience on how AI influence their learning both
positive are negative way.
REMARKS
This research is timely and crucial for understanding the changing
landscape of education. By exploring both the potential benefits and
challenges of AI in the classroom, our work has the power to shape
future educational practices and help students thrive in a technology-
driven world.
