your hard disk. It is done to remove

3. Clean dust from your computer.
Computers collect dust that will trap heat,
which can lower its performance and
usability. One of the easiest ways to clean
is by using compressed air. Open the case,
take it outside and blow the dust out. a
damp cloth can be used to wiped down
the exterior of the case. Careful about
using household cleaners, as they can
cause damage to circuit boards.
Computers require cleaning every day.
FILE MAINTENANCE

4. Backing up files. After

reloading the OS and all your
programs, create a full disk
image right away. It gives you
a fresh starting point to go
back to if you need to reload
everything again, and will be
much faster than redoing
everything manually.
FILE MAINTENANCE
5. Deleting unwanted files. If there
is a software that you do not use
any more, delete it. But be
cautious because some software
can cause hardware to malfunction
if you remove them. You can also
clear unnecessary information in
the form of ‘temporary’ files in
your OS in which never gets
deleted and lists of recently
performed searches, and the like.
FILE MAINTENANCE
6. Updating Antivirus database/using
more appropriate anti-virus
program. If you connect your
computer to the internet you need to
have antivirus software, as it monitors
the system for risk in real time. There
are antivirus programs that also
protect against adware and spyware,
but not all. And it is best to set your
antivirus to automatically check for
updates, at least daily, to ensure that
your antivirus serves its purpose.
