What is Project Management?
Is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique project, service or

Temporary: It has a set start and finish time

Unique: It is not part of overall day-to-day operations

Purposeful: It has a limited and defined scope to accomplish a very specific

task
Scope/Project Scope

PDCA - A four-step model to improve processes
• Recognize an opportunity and • Test the change
plan a change

Plan Do

Act Check
• Take action on what you have • Review the test,
learned. If the change doesn’t analyze the results,
work, repeat the cycle and review what you
have learned
A Project Quality Methodology
It is a six sigma model for reducing defects in project delivery.

Six Sigma is a set of techniques and tools for process

improvement. It was introduced by American engineer Bill Smith
while working at Motorola in 1986.

The Project Stakeholders are internal management personnel

with budgetary authority and/or the end customer

• Primary Reason: Poor Planning
• Planning is the only process group that touches all 9 knowledge areas
