Experiment,

Outcome, Sample
Space and Event
Answer the following :
• When you roll a balanced die once, what
happened?
• How many possible outcomes will arise?
• How many possible outcomes will arise for you
to get even number?
• How many possible outcomes will you get a
number “4”?
Experiment is a chance process that leads to a
well-defined result called outcome. Experiment
refers to any situational activity that involves
chance. It can be in the form of making
observations or taking measurements.

Examples: Flipping a coin, Rolling a die

Outcome is the result of a single trial of an
experiment.
Outcome is the result of a single trial of an
experiment.

Sample space is the set of all the possible

outcomes or sample points.

Sample point is just one of the possible outcome.
