Welcome

Welcome!

Hello, Croisés Majestic, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Thanks for helping with these and best of luck. Please take a quick look at WP:AT if you haven't already or ask me or at WT:RM if you have any questions. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 18:02, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Eleanor Boorew and blp prod

Just a note about your blpprod here; the alleged subject of this article had died a long time ago, so blpprod wasn't applicable. The article was a hoax so I deleted it anyway, though. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 18:02, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, Ill take this all into consideration and also, how do you get those editnotice things when you click on "Edit"? Croisés Majestic (sur nous mars) 18:04, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
I think you just create whateverpage/Editnotice. eg. User talk:Croisés Majestic/Editnotice <- go ahead and create that. More at WP:EDN. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 18:08, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
If you want to do this at an article, you need to get an administrator or someone to do it. ErikHaugen (talk | contribs) 18:08, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Ghostery

Hello Croisés Majestic. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Ghostery to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 00:55, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

  • I have removed your speedy deletion tag from a few other articles, as have other administrators. Before you continue tagging for deletion, please re-read WP:Deletion policy and WP:CSD. To pass CSD A7, any indication of importance is sufficient. Saying someone is a professor is sufficient, even if the person would not pas WP:PROF. Daying a company has multiple international office and major products is sufficient, even if it might not pass WP:N. The thing to do with articles that do not seem to show sufficient notability , is ideally to improve them by looking for suitable sources. Of course, there isn't always time in reviewing new articles to do this thoroughly, so the backup is to tag them for improvement , using {{notability |date=June 2011}} and, usually, {{improvereferences |date=June 2011}} or {{refimproveBLP |date=June 2011}} or {{primary sources |date=June 2011}}, or whatever is appropriate. If you have checked, and think it hopeless, then PROD is the way to go, or if you think it is likely to be contested , AfD. But before you use Prod or AfD, check for sources, and consider the alternative to deletion. DGG ( talk ) 02:28, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Nomination of Harry Bricker for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Harry Bricker is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

DYK nomination of Theodore W. Brevard

Hello! Your submission of Theodore W. Brevard at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! When I went to verify the hook against the source cited, I discover the work is actually in 12 volumes with each volume paged independently. I am confident the hook is verifiable, but it would be useful if you cited the Volume in the citation. Thanks --Mike Cline (talk) 19:53, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of Burra Record

Hello Croisés Majestic, I would like to query why you nominated the page Burra Record for speedy deletion (it has since been deleted by another editor) for copyright infringement when the discussion page of the article showed that the copyright holder had given permission for the text to be used. I had followed the process explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The copyright holder of http://www.samemory.sa.gov.au/site/page.cfm?c=2616 is the State Library of South Australia and I am a librarian there. The article in which you are trying to create is already existent at alt.sex.stories. I suggest you work on the content that is already there (because it is in dire need of it) and bring that up to Wikipedia standards. I will leave a message on your talk page citing the appropriate policies and guidelines for creating an article. If you need any more help just shoot me another message. Joe Venuti Discography Page

You have added an orphan tag to the Joe Venuti discography page. I have taken heed and added some links to the page. Is it enough to qualify removal of the orphan tag? Thank you, Pinikadia. Pinikadia 16:44, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Pinikadia — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pinikadia (talkcontribs)

The article Thayne Campbell has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:BIO.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ninety:one (reply on my talk) 21:13, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

RfA Reform update

Hi. It's been a little while since the last message on RfA reform, and there's been a fair amount of slow but steady progress. However, there is currently a flurry of activity due to some conversations on Jimbo's talk page.

I think we're very close to putting an idea or two forward before the community and there are at least two newer ones in the pipeline. So if you have a moment:

Thanks for reading and for any comments that you've now made.

Uncategorized pages

There's a daily database dump on the offsite toolserver service, located at this address. For the usual technical reasons, there are occasionally days when it doesn't fully update, there are various bugs which cause a few isolated pages to display on the list despite having categories on them already (or even having been outright deleted), and inevitably some pages are "uncategorized" because of user error, such as an HTML tag that hasn't been correctly closed — but most pages which show up on there are genuine uncategorized pages which haven't yet been tagged. Hope that helps. Bearcat (talk) 02:25, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Text2Pay

Hi,

You just reviewed my submission. I have had some problems getting my submission accepted due to the lack of third party sources. Alpha quadrant reviewed my last submission and said the same thing you did, however I asked him if the following sources were reliable and he said they were:

Mobile Entertainment: Text2Pay enables Android in-app payments VRL:Text2Pay launch in-app solution Mobile Commerce Daily: Android apps deliver carrier billing in 70 countries via Tap2Pay IVR: Text2Pay Launches Widget for Android Users to Make Mobile Payments

Can you please explain to me why you don't consider these as reliable third party sources? Alex.au (talk) 01:47, 3 February 2012 (UTC)Alex.au

Thanks for approving Bradbury Fields.

The C grade is useful; I'd not come across Wikipedia's grading system before. I do understand that due to your concern over the messenger, you had reasonable cause to doubt the message. But as a co-ordinator of Project Film, I take as deep a look as I can at the possible notability, or lack, of any film article brought to AFD. While I agree that the original version had major issues... they were not insurmountable and I was able to begin addressing them. The film screened at festivals under one title and has recent theatrical release under a different title. Naturally, this switch of titles made searches for sources a bit difficult, but by no means impossible. And now that the article has the eye of those willing and able to fix it up, I would ask that you perhaps consider a withdrawal of the AFD. Thank you, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 22:04, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

VedeBOT request

Hidden maintenance categories, such as Category:Year of birth missing and Category:Year of death missing, do not count toward whether an article is properly categorized or not, so VedeBOT should not be removing {{uncat}} from articles on the basis of their presence (as it did at Karim Shah and Horn House); that merely ends up creating an edit war because the articles then need to be retagged again. I've opted in this case to retag the articles as {{morecat}} instead of {{uncat}} — strictly speaking, that's incorrect as there are no permanent content categories on the articles, not just not enough, but it's the only available way to prevent getting into a tag-detag edit war with a bot.

Thus, I need to request that if the bot can't be programmed to distinguish between content categories whose presence does warrant removing the tag and maintenance categories whose presence does not, then it shouldn't be detagging that queue at all. The queue isn't that badly backlogged anyway, so it isn't overly burdensome to leave the determination to a pair of human eyes instead of automating it. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 17:20, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello Bearcat,
I have hard-coded an ignore list into the bot which can be found here. If you ever have a problem with the bot, Please just add the category's name (without the Category: prefix) to that page and the bot will ignore that category from then on. Best, --Ceradon talkcontribs 01:01, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

re: Erroneous revert on The Bahamas

There were a few reasons for the revert. There was no edit summary left with the change so that made me look more closely. The username is rather juvenile and that raised a flag even further. No source was provided and that cinched it for me. Lots of folks around WP like to change facts and figures to incorrect values for fun. Thanks, Dawnseeker2000 19:33, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Your bot flag request @ruwiki

The flag is granted, but You didn't answer some questions at ru:Википедия:Заявки на статус бота/CeraBot. It would be fine to finish that topic. --Obersachse (talk) 17:45, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for your GA review there. I copy edited the article, which is why I've picked up several of your points. On commas, the rules that were taught a decade or two ago are now very much relaxed in high-quality writing, especially in the UK but also quite a lot in the US. The very best guide, I believe, is the NASA one here. It's American, but expresses very well what is now common on both sides of the Atlantic. On wikipedia, I would suggest, it's better to focus on clarity rather than strict rules. But in the case of "In early 2001 investigators asked the Irish authorities for a fresh post mortem." you were right, because a quick reading eye might be tripped up by "2002 investigators". Hey ho! --Stfg (talk) 10:46, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Ok, noted. Thank you. ceradon talkcontribs 10:49, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
