Scoliosis[1][2] (-is, f.) est curvatura pathologica columnae vertebralis, quae solet tortum in regione thoracica causare, qui gibbus (Italiane gibbo) vocatur. Hanc deformationem corporis iam Hippocrates aliique auctores Graeci, qui de morbis et medicaminibus disseruerunt, σκολίωσιν (scoliosin) dixerunt.

  • Dextroscoliosis[3] est scoliosis in qua spina dorsi dextrorsum flexa est.
  • Laevoscoliosis[3], scoliosis in qua spina dorsi sinistrorsum flexa est.
  • Rotoscoliosis[3], scoliosis in qua spina dorsi dextrorsum (dextrorotoscoliosis[3]) aut sinistrorsum (laevorotoscoliosis[3]) flexa atque circumactior est.
