Shattered Glass Animated
In his youth, Isaac Sumdac investigated an apparent meteor crash and instead found the decapitated head of Optimus Prime. In subsequent years, Sumdac reverse engineered the technology in Prime's head to establish a ruthless military technocracy, conquering lower Michigan and ruling it from his Terrordrome in Detroit with an army of robots. Unrelatedly, a protoform found its way to Earth. Transformers I.Q. #16 When Sumdac encountered it, it instinctively attacked him and ripped out his eye. It also subsequently assimilated his DNA The 'Cons and grew to consider him its creator. Transformers I.Q. #16 The protoform became his daughter, Sari Sumdac. Isaac kept her caged up like an animal and experimented on her unique techno-organic nature. Sumdac's forcible implantation of AllSpark fragments into her skin unlocked Sari's true power and granted her a battle mode. He enlisted her as a personal enforcer, albeit fitted with a control collar to ensure her cooperation. The 'Cons
At some point, Sumdac became personally acquainted with Optimus Prime, though whether this was when he was a disembodied head or later on is unclear. He found himself kept on his toes by the intellectual struggle for dominance between himself and the Autobot leader. The AllSpark Almanac Addendum The Complete AllSpark Almanac
Once Sumdac was able to, he reawakened Prime and the Autobots and outfitted them with control collars as well, The 'Cons giving him a "crack squad of extraterrestrial assassins". Transformers I.Q. #16 Nevertheless, Sudmac granted them some measure of free will and time; Ratchet was allowed to continue his twisted experiments, and Prowl found the resources to create a clone army. The Autobots' nominal mission was to defeat Megatron's Decepticons and capture the AllSpark; Sumdac considered a risk-benefit analysis of keeping the amoral Prime around if they succeeded.
On one occasion, Megatron stole Sumdac's sonic attack robot and turned it into Soundwave, for which Sumdac blamed Sari. Professor Black was a human enemy to Sumdac's empire, and he augmented multiple humans with technology to create superheroes such as the Amiable Archer, Millisec, Private Princess, and Cyrus. A year or so after the Soundwave incident, he returned, having recruited these human heroes into a group called HYBRID. With the Autobots incapacitated by Soundwave, Sari was forced to team up with some hobobots to rescue them. In a letter addressed to her father, she expressed her resentment over once again having to do his dirty work while he sat on his butt. She closed the letter by threatening to rip out Sumdac's other eye and take control over the Terrordrome, but she may have torn the letter up before sending it. Notes
- On the BotCon 2011 lithograph "The 'Cons", Sumdac's fortress was erroneously referred to as the Technodrome. The AllSpark Almanac Addendum rectified this to the Terrordrome.
- "The 'Cons" refers to Sumdac as a professor in Prime and Bumblebee's bios, but in Transformers I.Q. he is referred to as "Dr. Sumdac".
