Simfur Temple
From Transformers Wiki
- The Simfur Temple is a building on Cybertron from the movie continuity family.
The Simfur Temple is the resting-place of the Cybertronians' two most prized possessions: the AllSpark and a machine that keeps a star near their planet. Evidently, it is located in the city of Simfur, although the construction of the Simfur Temple precedes that of the city. Protection of the temple is the Science Division's responsibility, partly because its members have a better understanding of the AllSpark and partly because no Cybertronian in their right mind would risk damaging the AllSpark or severing its connection to the star-capturing machine. In that sense, the occupation of Simfur Temple guard is more formal than functional, but at times Cybertron has to deal with alien invaders. With the Science Division protecting the Simfur Temple, the Defense Force has one worry less to take care of.

Until around 17,000 BC, the area where the Simfur Temple would be built was the center of Cybertronian society, as it was there the AllSpark was located. Defiance #1 With the disappearance of the Dynasty of Primes and the anarchic chaos that followed, the AllSpark vanished beneath Cybertron's surface, becoming thought to be just a myth. After a few millennia, one of the two surviving Primes, Sentinel Prime, brought together individuals from several of Cybertron's tribes—individuals who realized that their planet was doomed if it remained without a source of energy. Under Sentinel Prime's guidance, they sought for and rediscovered the AllSpark. Since the AllSpark itself needed a source of energy to become useful once more, Sentinel Prime's group prepared a machine to draw a star into the AllSpark's reach for it to refill itself from. As they neared their goal, however, they were attacked by the Thetacons, who believed the star would destroy Cybertron. While some of Sentinel Prime's group held off the assault, the rest finished the procedure and revitalized Cybertron. Stunned, the Thetacons asked what Sentinel Prime's group would do now that they possessed the most powerful artifact on the planet. Sentinel Prime answered that the AllSpark was for everyone and its restoration would mark the end of the tribal wars. Seeking to atone for their lack of trust, the Thetacons built a beautiful temple around the AllSpark soon after, Foundation #1 Movie Prequel #1 around which a city subsequently arose.
Around 10,000 BC, Megatron's and Optimus's co-rulership had placed the AllSpark and the temple in the care of the Science Division. Bumblebee and Cliffjumper were the guards on duty when Cybertron was attacked by inhabitants of the Eshems Nebula. Bumblebee and Cliffjumper had no little trouble keeping the invaders out of the temple, until Megatron came to their aid. Defiance #1 Once the invaders had been dealt with, Prowl and Jazz came to inspect the damage at the temple, where Prowl deduced the invaders had tried to get into the temple, not destroy it, suggesting they had been after the AllSpark. Defiance #2 Megatron's and Optimus's differing viewpoints on how to deal with the threat of losing the AllSpark was one of the causes that brought about war.
As the war dragged on, Sentinel Prime created a small torch-like device that could turn the tide in the Autobots' favor. The one catch was that it needed to be powered by the AllSpark, which had been out of the Autobots' reach ever since the Decepticons had claimed Simfur and made it their most well-guarded stronghold. Still, with nothing to lose, the Autobots infiltrated Simfur, where Elita-One, Arcee and Chromia were tasked with getting the torch near the AllSpark while the rest would fight off Decepticon opposition. Scanning the temple exterior, Arcee happily noted that the AllSpark still resided in the temple, but Elita-One was suspicious of the fact they had gotten so far without any confrontation whatsoever. At that moment, the temple gate opened, revealing the silhouette of Megatron. Mocking them for their naïveté, Foundation #3 he attacked and called forth his troops that had remained in hiding up until then. This did not change the Autobots' plan at all, and with the necessary backup, Elita-One got the torch to the AllSpark, got it charged and escaped the battlezone with it. Elsewhere, she handed it to Sentinel Prime, who had prepared two ships, one of which held a special cargo. Sentinel Prime flew it to the Simfur Temple to begin the next phase of his plan, but the ship was blown out of the sky above the temple. Seeing their leader and strategy go up in smoke, the Autobots at the Simfur Temple retreated to their base in Tyger Pax.
Aware that the Autobots couldn't win the war for the time being, Optimus Prime came up with a plan to thwart the Decepticons' victory all the same. Within three solar cycles, Defiance #4 Wheeljack guided most of the Autobot forces in a second attack on the Simfur Temple, taking the weakened Decepticon army by surprise, while Optimus and a small team kept the strongest Decepticons distracted. This time, the Autobots did not just grab some of the AllSpark's energy, but the whole cube at once, disconnecting it from the machine that kept the star near Cybertron. As their planet was plunged into darkness once more, the Autobots brought the AllSpark to a safer place. Foundation #4
Supposedly, the Autobots moved the AllSpark around many times to keep it out of Decepticon hands, Movie Prequel #2 until Optimus Prime decided to remove the AllSpark from anyone's reach altogether. By this time, Simfur had been taken from the Decepticons and Optimus Prime made both factions think that the Autobots had brought back the AllSpark to the temple. This was a ruse to keep the Decepticons from approaching Tyger Pax, where the AllSpark was being prepared for launch. While most Autobots fought the Decepticons at Simfur, which saw its temple largely destroyed, a small unit protected Tyger Pax just in case. Movie Prequel #1 This arrangement sort of backfired when Megatron saw through it and ordered his troops to keep fighting at Simfur to prevent the Autobots from sending reinforcements to Tyger Pax, but in the end, the Autobots succeeded still. In the year of 2007, the AllSpark was destroyed on Earth. Starscream obtained data on the AllSpark from Frenzy, who had hacked the Sector Seven computers, and returned to Cybertron with plans to create a new AllSpark, which he intended to have built in the ruins of the Simfur Temple. The Reign of Starscream #2 Stockade was put in charge of the construction site, where Decepticon soldiers and Autobot slaves were made to work together. The Reign of Starscream #3 Once the cube was finished, Starscream and his entourage travelled from the city of Trypticon to the construction site, so that Starscream could oversee the next phase personally. Once Payload arrived with a generator, Starscream had the Autobot slaves and one rude Decepticon strapped to the new AllSpark to sacrifice their sparks to power the new AllSpark.
An Autobot rescue squad led by Arcee snuck near the Simfur Temple area just as the AllSpark regeneration ceremony' was about to take place. The Reign of Starscream #4 While Starscream held a speech to rally the Decepticon forces under his banner, the Autobot rescue team failed to act in time to save their colleagues from electrocution by the new AllSpark's generator. Starscream wasn't much more fortunate either: His new AllSpark turned out to worthless and Dreadwing launched an attack on Starscream's troops in a bid for leadership. Arcee tried to take them all out by sniping the generator, but most survived the subsequent explosion. The Decepticons' internal strife was the Autobots' saving grace—as the bulk of them kept fighting one another in and around the temple area, the Autobots escaped to Trypticon.
