Marvel The Transformers comics

Events from the UK-only comic stories are in italics.

Early during the war on Cybertron, the warriors who would later become the Dinobots began to suspect that one day they might become fed up with Optimus Prime's leadership and strike out on their own. In preparation, they snuck into a Decepticon spaceport, stole a number of ships, and hid them in the Rad Zone. A Savage Circle

Arkshuttle3.jpg

Snarl wound up being one of the Autobots selected to accompany Optimus Prime in the Ark on a mission to clear a path for Cybertron through an asteroid belt, only for the ship to crash on Earth. Afterwards, Shockwave came to Earth in pursuit and landed in the Savage Land. The Ark rebuilt Snarl along with Grimlock, Slag, Sludge, and Swoop into the Dinobots and sent them to the Savage Land to defeat Shockwave. The Last Stand Shockwave had the upper hand until Snarl smashed the mountainside Shockwave was standing on, sending him and the Dinobots submerged in a tar pit where they remained until they were dug out by Ratchet millions of years later. Snarl, along with the other Dinobots, then helped Ratchet to defeat Megatron and reclaim the Ark. Repeat Performance!

On the way back to the Ark, Snarl had his first encounter with a human, which ended with the organic fleeing in terror. Ratchet sought to explain why humans feared them with a story about the Autobots' battle with the Decepticons at Sherman Dam. At story's end, they reached the Ark, only to find their path block by Guardian, reprogrammed by Shockwave to attack any Autobot it came upon! Decepticon Dam-Busters!

Snarl wrath of guardian.jpg

Seeing the Guardian pounding Swoop unconscious sent the rest of the Dinobots into a rage, but their might was no match for that of the Omega Class battle droid. Ratchet intervened, sending the Guardian fleeing into the Ark by blasting into its cerebral access port. While Ratchet went to work repairing the rest of the Autobots, Snarl and the Dinobots began tracking down the Guardian as it stumbled through the Ark. Together, they managed to bring it down to its knees just as Ratchet discovered that the Guardian had been booby-trapped with a thermo-nuclear bomb. The Wrath of Guardian! Wheeljack managed to prevent the Dinobots from reducing the Ark to a smoldering crater by remote-controlling Optimus Prime's body, interrupting their execution of Guardian. This unfortunately allowed the droid to strike back, and it fled after knocking all of its opponents aside. The Dinobots reconvened in the medical bay, where Grimlock made sure Ratchet attended to Swoop in short order. Just as repairs on their comrade neared completion, Guardian burst into the room, and the Dinobots engaged the droid once again. However, Guardian was not planning to beat the Autobots through brute force this time around; instead, the droid had activated the bomb within its body, and was counting down to detonation. Snarl and the others were spared from utter destruction by Swoop, who flew Guardian up into the sky before the bomb went off. Believing their comrade to have perished, the Dinobots went off on their own afterwards. The Wrath of Grimlock!

Snarl guardian victory.jpg

Not long after this he went mad due to the burning out of his cybo-dendrons after being submerged in the tar pit for millions of years. The Autobots learned of the Dinobots' impending regression into animal-like states after tangling with Swoop, The Icarus Theory and set out to find them. Mirage, Trailbreaker and Brawn tracked Snarl to the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, where he had been sent into a fury by local military men. Snarl trampled through a secret military base, sending all of its occupants fleeing while the Autobots were forced to hold back, allowing the humans to gain distance between themselves and the firefight that would ensue. The battle itself never came, however; the human Carl Thompson triggered an experimental weapon, which knocked Snarl unconscious. The Autobots were able to then easily retrieve their downed comrade. Dinobot Hunt! The Dinobots were taken in by Ratchet, who attempted to recover them from their coma-like stasis. While Snarl was offline, he dreamed of fighting the Guardian once more, the droid emerging victorious in their struggle. Victory!

Snarl later recovered along with the other Dinobots. Second Generation! When Prime organized a battle unit to assault the Decepticon base, not to demolish their enemy but to record some vital data, the Dinobots balked at the idea. Going into battle without intending to win was an anathema to them. Grimlock, Snarl and the other Dinobots chose to abandon the Autobot cause instead of putting up with Optimus Prime's "cowardly" ways any longer. Command Performances!

Snarl scrapper soundwave in the national interest.jpg

After their big speech, the Dinobots apparently hung around the Ark for a little while anyways, passing their time by working out. They soon grew bored and, on a whim, decided to help Sludge go after the "beautiful golden human" he had met while his cybo-dendrons were malfunctioning. Joy Meadows, the aforementioned "human", was a reporter who drew some serious heat after she started questioning the Robot-Master cover story being pumped over the air waves. This drew the attention of both the Decepticons and the US government to her, as they each had a stake in making sure the public believed all the Transformers were under the control of a so-called "terrorist." Snarl and Slag wrestled while the other Dinobots organized to get interviewed by Meadows and set the story straight. But before said interview was underway, Megatron and his troops tracked down the Dinobots, soon followed by Triple-I's agent, Professor Morris and his new robot Centurion. The 'Cons ultimately won the skirmish — Soundwave wiped Meadows' tapes and the Constructicons personally laid the beatdown on Snarl and the others. Despite some grumbling afterwards, Snarl and the Dinobots mostly decided to give up on the idea of "telling their story" to the humans. In the National Interest The Dinobots were then approached by Optimus and Prowl, who demanded to know what had transpired. Snarl and his teammates refused to talk, and instead walked away from the whole ordeal. Target: 2006

Dinobots Bad News.jpg

When the future Decepticon named Galvatron returned to the 1980s, his first act was to destroy Centurion. Seeking revenge, the Dinobots came after Galvatron in a pitched battle alongside several other Autobots. Despite Snarl's best efforts, he found that his attacks barely yielded any results against the time-traveler. The Dinobots were only spared when Shockwave's forces joined the fray. As Galvatron was unwilling to destroy his own future-troops, he retreated upon their arrival. Fallen Angel

The Dinobots were still on their own, stealing fuel from the humans, when they learned of Optimus Prime's death. After Grimlock attempted to claim leadership of the Autobots for himself and failed, Snarl and the Dinobots happened upon Trypticon attacking the Ark. Snarl was content to sit back and enjoy the spectacle at first, but when Grimlock leaped into the fray, he decided to join in on the "fun." Trypticon was driven back through a space bridge by their attack, and Grimlock's leadership convinced the Autobots that Grimlock should be leader after all. King of the Hill!

When Swoop got in over his head taking on the Predacons by himself, the rest of the Dinobots were gathered up by Sludge and came to their teammate's rescue. Snarl battled both Headstrong and Tantrum in the ensuing scuffle, managing to knock the former silly with his tail after taking a few lumps from the latter. All of the warriors on both sides wound up walking away from the confrontation when Swoop called for an sudden end to it, wanting to properly deal with his rivalry against Divebomb at a later time. Grudge Match!

Well, isn't this awkward.

Under Grimlock's leadership, the Ark became spaceborne once more, though some Autobots began rebelling against their brutal commander. Chief among these insurgents was Blaster, who was tracked down to the Earth's orbit. Though the Autobots managed to capture four young human allied to their rogue agent, Blaster himself remained elusive. Grimlock cast the children out into the void of space (which he reassured Snarl was only the means to set up a trap, and was not meant to bring about the children's demise). His trap was foiled by the interference of another Autobot, Sky Lynx. Refusing to give up, Grimlock called upon Snarl and the rest of the Dinobots to help him hunt down Sky Lynx and his new passengers through a nearby asteroid belt. Sky Lynx proved too agile for them to catch up to, but Blaster was lured out nonetheless, as the ongoing chase threatened to exhaust the humans' limited oxygen supply. Spacehikers! With the rebel troublemaker taken captive, Grimlock returned to his capricious rule, with Snarl and the other Dinobots attending to his every need. Snarl was tasked with looking after Grimlock's crown, making sure it stayed straight on Grimlock's head so the Dinobot leader would always look his best. Grimlock's time of lazily lounging about was interrupted when Snarl received word that another team of Autobots, this one operating under Fortress Maximus, wanted to join forces with them. Unwilling to share leadership duties, Grimlock challenged the new arrival to a duel, and had Snarl and Slag throw Goldbug, being harbored by Maximus, into the brig. Blaster wound up taking up the fight in Maximus's stead, with nearly all of the other Autobots acting as audience to their match. The Dinobots cheered for Grimlock, though the fight came to an abrupt end when the Decepticons launched a surprise attack. Grimlock and Blaster momentarily put aside their differences to chase away the attackers, and in the battle's aftermath, Goldbug had left with several others to reconstruct Optimus Prime on Nebulos. Totaled!

Upon Prime's return he confronted Grimlock, Snarl and the other Dinobots, who were none too happy about having to cede control of the Autobots back to him. However, Prime proved to be his usual persuasive self and managed to sweet-talk them into following his orders again. These events were witnessed by the time travelling Dicet Alpha-zero. The Quest!

Tokyounderbase.jpg

Afterwards, Snarl and the other Dinobots were lured up to the Arctic by a distress signal sent by Buster Witwicky. This turned out to be part of a complex series of manipulations, set up by Starscream, to distract all others from his bid for the legendary Underbase. The Autobots found a Decepticon ambush awaiting them after retrieving Buster, and were roped into battling the opposing faction until both sides realized they were being duped. Unable to prevent Starscream from absorbing part of the Underbase's cosmic energies, the Autobots and Decepticons were forced to spread their forces across various cities where they expected him to strike. Snarl and the rest of the Dinobots were stationed in Tokyo, where they were critically damaged by the Underbase-powered Seeker before managing to get any shots of their own in. Dark Star After being repaired by Ratchet using Pretender technology, Grimlock grew frustrated that Snarl and the other Dinobots were doomed to remain in stasis within the Ark's repair bay. The loss of both Ratchet and the Creation Matrix seemed to deprive the Autobots of any means of bringing them back online. But, upon learning of the miracle-substance Nucleon, Grimlock decided to take matters into his own hands. He took the Dinobots' bodies out of the medical bay and commandeered a shuttle to restore his team himself. Eye of the Storm Braving the guardians that protected the island of Farooth on Hydrus Four with the bodies of his comrades in tow, Grimlock succeeded in reaching the goal of his quest. He first tested Nucleon on himself, and feeling super-charged by it, proceeded to douse Snarl and the others in the substance. The Pri¢e of Life!

Grimlockwasthatwise.jpg

Once more fighting fit, Snarl helped Grimlock load up as much Nucleon as they could in the hopes of reviving all other Autobots still lying inoperative within the Ark. Snarl was especially chatty during this task, congratulating Grimlock on his decision to bring them all back "leaner, meaner, and badder than ever!" ...All This and Civil War 2 Upon the Dinobots' return to the Ark, however, they found the ship completely deserted. Snarl performed a scan to locate any Transformers on Earth, finding the planet nearly devoid of both Autobots and Decepticons as well. Surmising that the Autobots had somehow traveled to Cybertron to battle Unicron in their absence, Grimlock had Swoop and Snarl pilot the Ark towards their homeworld, while Sludge and Slag dispensed the Nucleon in the medical bay. The Void! Their comrades revived, the Dinobots approached Cybertron with the battle against Unicron already underway. Grimlock rammed the Ark into the Chaos-Bringer's face, sending the Ark plummeting towards the planet's surface, and forcing all aboard to leap out before it crashed. On the Edge of Extinction!

Snarl demon still life.jpg

Following Unicron's defeat, Optimus named Grimlock the Autobots' new leader before expiring. Though Prowl advised him to nurture the strenuous alliance between the Autobots and the Decepticons, Grimlock instead decided to seek out the Ark and all of the still-inoperative Autobots within it, taking his Dinobots with him for the task. En route, Grimlock suddenly seized up, causing Snarl to bump into his suddenly-immobilized leader. Before the group could figure out what was happening, they were approached by Hi-Q, then being chased by a pack of demons! Snarl tried to cut one of their numbers down with his Energo Sword, only to find his weapon incapable of penetrating the Demon's hide. He narrowly avoided getting eviscerated when Slag came to his rescue, but the Dinobots still found themselves hopelessly outmatched by their opponents. Thankfully, Grimlock's paralysis was in reality the prelude to a metamorphosis! Shedding his outer plating, Grimlock emerged as an Action Master, and easily sent the demons packing. Still Life! The Dinobots never managed to find the Ark on Cybertron, as it had already been commandeered by Shockwave and Starscream. Worse yet, due to the sundering of Primus's consciousness during the battle with Unicron, Cybertron was now falling apart. Grimlock, anticipating further treachery from the Decepticons, planned ahead to ensure the Autobots wouldn't be left stranded on their decaying world when the Decepticons decided to abandon them. Sure enough, the new Decepticon leader Bludgeon sabotaged the Autobots' spaceships, and took off with his troops to seek out new worlds to conquer. After this had happened, Snarl approached Grimlock and assured him all was going according to plan; Exodus! the Dinobots had gone to the Rad Zone to recover the hidden starships they had stashed there millions of years prior! A Savage Circle With transportation secured, the Autobots tracked down the Decepticons to the planet Klo. Unfortunately, the Decepticons anticipated being followed, and lured their pursuers into a trap as soon as they made planetfall. Snarl was killed in the ensuing ambush, only to be presumably revived by the Last Autobot when this newest ally appeared alongside Optimus Prime to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat, and end the war. End of the Road!

Dinobots legacy of unicron 1.jpg

In 2008, Snarl and the Dinobots were one of several special units unleashed on the Decepticon attack force when Scourge and Cyclonus led the 'Cons on a siege of the Autobots' main base on Cybertron. Autobot High Command soon learned this assault was only a distraction, however, engineered by Unicron himself who was reconstructing himself on the planet of Junkion. When Smokescreen returned from Junk with this news, Rodimus Prime gathered Scattershot, Grimlock, and the rest of the Dinobots with him to make an assault on Junk. Much to Rodimus's dismay, Snarl and the Dinobots didn't hold back at all when attacking the Junkions Unicron had mind-controlled into doing his bidding, and tore through them as if they were any other enemy. The Legacy of Unicron!

Earthforce

These stories do not fit into the normal Marvel continuity. See Earthforce for details.
Breakaway-Dinobots.jpg

Searching for a means to revive his fellow Dinobots, Grimlock found a way and brought Snarl and the others back to full activation. Shockwave wanted the secret for himself, but the Dinobots weren't exactly forthcoming. During a fight with Shockwave's Decepticons, Snarl took Starscream to school, battering him with his tail, taking a bite out of his legs, and finally zapping the treacherous Decepticon with solar energy from his spines. But then Optimus turned up, and began berating Grimlock for his overly violent methods. The Decepticons took advantage of the distraction to sneak off. Two Steps Back! This led to a shouting match between Grimlock and Optimus, where the former threatened to take his Dinobots and leave the Autobot army. The situation deteriorated further, with Snarl and the others hanging back as Optimus and Grimlock eventually knocked some sense into one another. Optimus Prime took the Ark off-planet, leaving Earth under the protection of Grimlock, the Dinobots, and the newly formed Autobot Earthforce they commanded. Break-Away! Although Grimlock had promised Optimus Prime that he would show restraint on Earth, Snarl was present at the first meeting of the Earthforce where their leader literally threw the rule book out of the window. Once upon a Time...

Snow Fun final panel.jpg

Feeling Grimlock was taking his new command gig too seriously, Snarl and the other Dinobots decided to have a little fun with the boss, thanks to the Earth custom of April Fools' Day. They sent him out on a wild robo-goose chase for Shockwave, only to end up at an ice sculpture of the Decepticon set behind an "April Fools!" sign. Grimlock didn't take this too well, and was later seen headed towards Snarl and the Dinobots with the world's biggest snowball. Snow Fun!

When Wheeljack discovered an evil plot behind Sleepfast nightlights, he had Snarl help him break into the manufacturing warehouse to confirm his suspicions. While inside, they were attacked by a swarm of evil nightlight gremlins and confronted by the mastermind behind the nefarious scheme: Mindwipe! Thinking quickly, Snarl and Wheeljack were able to turn the thought-activated nightlights against their creator, mentally commanding the hundreds of lights to all flash on at once, temporarily shorting out Mindwipe's neural circuitry. Mindwipe was left unresponsive, and his plot was foiled. The Living Nightlights!

Wheeljack-thelivingnightlights.jpg

As Autobot Earthbase finished construction, Snarl was present for Wheeljack's demonstration of its systems. Unfortunately, Wheeljack had forgotten that the base's defenses could only be deactivated from within, a noticeable problem once it was pointed out that their entire fighting force was in attendance for the presentation. Prowl was forced to run the gauntlet of the base's defenses to shut them down. The House that Wheeljack Built! Snarl was also on hand to defend the base from an attack by Soundwave and the Decepticons. Divide and Conquer!

As always, the Dinobots stuck together in crises, like when Slag went into a routine berserker rage right when Optimus Prime was performing an inspection of the Earthforce operation. Snarl and the others went racing around the base trying to keep Slag from destroying TOO much necessary equipment before Prime left. Though Slag escaped them for a short bit, the other Dinobots managed to catch up to him and wrangle him long enough for him to burn himself out. Optimus left shortly thereafter, with any embarrassments avoided. The 4,000,000 Year Itch! On a more serious note, however, Snarl himself came down with a debilitating case of Corrodia Gravis, a wasting disease that would cause him to slowly rust to death unless he received a systems boost from a compatible Transformer. The problem? That Transformer was Starscream. Assassins

Snarl goes to pieces.

Starscream made a deal with the Autobots and agreed to the systems boost, The Lesser Evil! but years later the disease returned and Snarl was completely incapacitated. The Dinobots theorized that the central control crystal from the shuttle which first brought them to Earth could help, storing Snarl's cerebral patterns until a new body could be constructed for him. Once they traveled to the Savage Land, however, they found that the crystal wasn't in the shuttle anymore. Searching the area, the Dinobots found a paleontologist named Professor Embrey, who had adapted the crystal and used its radiative properties to stop a wasting disease that was killing off the dinosaurs in the Savage Land. Unable to retrieve the crystal from Embrey without condemning the dinosaurs to death, Swoop arranged a solution by using the crystal to transfer Snarl's mind into a living Stegosaurus. Snarl remained behind in the Savage Land under Embrey's care until a new body could be made for him. Destiny of the Dinobots!

Although not explicitly set in Earthforce continuity and released before Earthforce even started, this is the best place it 'fits' in Marvel's sub-continuities due to the gravis link.

Another Time & Place

Several months after the golden age of Cybertron was reintroduced, Snarl and most of his fellow Dinobots had succumbed to the transfiguring effects of Nucleon and lost their ability to transform. When Grimlock received information that the Hydrus Four facilities had reopened, and discovered a means of reversing Nucleonic changes, the Dinobots jumped at the idea. Despite Prime's half-hearted warnings, Snarl and his teammates followed Grimlock back to Hydrus Four in the hopes of becoming Transformers once again. They were followed by the "exiled" Decepticons, however, and a battle with a huge native creature delayed the Dinobots long enough for Bludgeon's crew to get ahead of them and take over the Nucleon facility. The Dinobots were laid low by a Holocaust Trigger, overloading their sensory circuits so that they were helpless before the Decepticons. Cruelly tortured, the Dinobots were still left alive so that they could witness the rebirth of Megatron, thanks to the Nucleon infusions Bludgeon was feeding him. Luckily, the Autobots had long since learned to become worried whenever the Dinobots were out of sight for too long, and had followed them to Hydrus Four. Roadhandler, Tote, and several Micromasters managed to free the injured Dinobots, and an Autobot strike force brought down their Decepticon captors. The Nucleon reversion process was a success, and Snarl and his comrades were restored to fully operational Transformers. Another Time & Place

They work hard, and they play hard.

Snarl and the Dinobots were fighting alongside Grimlock and a small group of Autobot Firestormers when they uncovered the Cybertronians and their terraforming measures. After calling in Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots to discuss the matter, they were captured by Jhiaxus, leader of this new enemy force. The seeming insignificance of their previous conflicts weighed heavily on Optimus, but once Grimlock convinced him of the need to fight on, the Autobots burst free from their cell. Snarl and the others became part of a major offensive against not only Jhiaxus and his ilk, but everything they represented. War Without End!

CHOMP

Despite Prime serving as overall commander, however, Snarl and his buddies were still Dinobots first and foremost. So when Grimlock wanted to take first strike action against Prime's orders, there was no question who they'd follow. Using a stolen enemy shuttle, they attempted to sneak upon the Cybertronian ship, the Twilight with a Chaosmaster Bomb to obliterate it... But Snarl and the others were captured almost immediately, as Jhiaxus had increased his security. They only escaped thanks to the timely intervention of Optimus Prime and his more loyal group of soldiers. Devices and Desires! Grimlock mellowed a bit after that exchange, and so Snarl and the Dinobots were relegated to training exercises with the other newly arriving Autobots from other regions of space until a new plan of attack against the Cybertronian Empire could be made. The Power and the Glory

When Grimlock learned that Optimus had left to confront Megatron alone on Earth, hoping to negotiate a treaty and join forces against Jhiaxus' army, the Dinobot immediately recognized the foolishness in this decision. He gathered up Snarl among others to come to their commander's rescue, their arrival interrupting Megatron before he could deliver a killing blow. The Gathering Darkness Snarl continued to fight alongside the Autobots with his Dinobot comrades on Ethos. Escalation! Later, after the Autobots forged an alliance with the first-generation Decepticons against the Cybertronians, the Dinobots got into the spirit of things—they teamed up with Headstrong and Weirdwolf in a metal-munching contest, to see who could chow down on the most Cybertronians.

Man, too bad Hun-Grrr and Skullcruncher weren't there to make it a real contest. Total War!

Prime dinobots war zone.jpg

When both Bludgeon and Megatron came to Earth and began causing destruction in their wake, Grimlock called upon Snarl and Slag, so that all three Dinobots could help Optimus Prime fight back against the Decepticons. The Dinobots made their way to the ruins of London, where Snarl shot down both Terradive and Eagle Eye, taking them out of the fight. Once the evil robots had all been driven off or defeated, Optimus had the Autobots retreat off-planet to avoid a confrontation with the humans. War Zone

Regeneration One

Regeneration One continues from the Marvel US series, and does not include the UK stories or any subsequently published stories.

In 2007, Snarl and the Dinobots reached a breaking point in their relationship with Grimlock. His reckless use of Nucleon on himself, them, and the other Autobots had caused too many consequences. Even their fellow Dinobot Slag was reduced to a mindlessly feral state in the Nursery. Learning the wrong lesson from the dressing-down, Grimlock swore to reverse the Nucleon effect on his comrades...again, regardless of the consequences. Natural Selection, Part One

Five years later, Grimlock had formed an alliance of convenience with the evil Scorponok, who was using a Gene Key device to rewrite all Autobots on Cybertron into essentially Decepticons. Snarl and the Dinobots were being hunted down by Scorponok's legions as further leverage to use against Grimlock. Reckoning that their fearless leader had finally gone too far, the Dinobots set off alarms at the Nursery as a challenge to Grimlock. When he arrived, the Dinobots attempted to give their traitorous former leader a quick death. A detachment of Scorponok's minions arrived though, and after Grimlock defeated them, Snarl and the others decided to give him one more chance. Natural Selection, Part Four

After retaking the Civil Defense Hub, the Dinobots raced to the Sonic Canyons to prevent Scorponok from activating a pan-global Gene Key to affect the entire planet at once. Snarl and the Dinobots damaged the bridge supports holding up the Key's position, but they were unable to stop Grimlock from sacrificing himself by grappling with Scorponok all the way down into the bottomless chasm below. Natural Selection, Part Five

Hot rod dinobots destiny.jpg

Once Slag was restored by the Nebulan process, Snarl and the other Dinobots came to the new Autobot leader, Hot Rod. They all had a feeling that Grimlock wasn't really dead, and wanted to join Hot Rod on his expedition into Cybertron's core. Destiny, Part One Their search led them deep into Cybertron's under-structure, following a "map" imprinted on Hot Rod's mind by the Covenant of Primus. Destiny, Part Two In the Primus chamber, the group was confronted by Primordial Cybertronians, who only retreated after the arrival of Grimlock, aglow and inhabited by the power of Primus. Destiny, Part Three Snarl and the other Dinobots entered a form of mind-lock while Primus and Hot Rod conversed. After Primus dispatched Hot Rod on a quest through Zero Space, the Dinobots awoke to find a very confused Grimlock. Destiny, Part Four As they made their way back towards the surface, the Dinobots realized the primitives were passively following them as well. Emerging from the ground in the middle of a Decepticon invasion, the Dinobots took up arms against the 'Cons and their Blitz Engines, and led the primitives into battle as much needed reinforcements for the Autobot cause. Destiny, Part Five

Rodimus snarl swoop war to end all wars.jpg

After the invasion, however, the Autobots were unsettled by the presence of the Dinobots' new "friends". Even the newly risen Rodimus Prime, who first began the quest to reconnect with these ancestors, didn't want to know them. The War to End All Wars, Part 1 Snarl and the other Dinobots were unsettled by the ghetto constructed on the surface by the Autobots to house the primitives, and were suspicious of how passive the primitives had quickly become. When Jhiaxus's highly advanced Primum Fugae arrived on Cybertron, they quickly judged the primitives to be an evolutionary insult and began exterminating them. Snarl and the others stepped up to defend the creatures, but the Primum Fugae proved incredibly powerful. They only retreated after a larger Autobot force arrived. The War to End All Wars, Part 2

Damaged in the struggle, Snarl and the Dinobots remained behind on Cybertron when Rodimus Prime led a counter-attack against Jhiaxus's Hub worlds. The primitives' behavior continued to be unsettling as they spontaneously began growing "hibernation capsules" around themselves in the ghetto, apparently instinctively hiding out from some upcoming menace. The War to End All Wars, Part 4

Sure enough, the Anti-Matrix entity took advantage of the Autobots' absence and unleashing a corrupting wave over Cybertron, draining life and stability from nearly all the inhabitants. Swoop and the Dinobots only survived due to their proximity to Grimlock. It seemed it was the Anti-Matrix and not really Primus who inhabited Grimlock earlier, and that brief contact created an immunity for him. However, the Dinobots still had to deal with the shadow-demons all other transformers on Cybertron had devolved into thanks to the entity. They survived long enough to regroup with Rodimus Prime's fleet when they returned from the Hub. The War to End All Wars, Part 5

Dynobots traumatize secrets and lies.jpg

As a member of the Dynobots, Snarl was one of the Autobots' demolition specialists during the early days of the war on Cybertron. After learning that Shockwave may have been responsible for firing one of Project Dreadnought's planetary turbines, Prowl assigned the Dynobots to accompany Perceptor on his investigation. Travelling into Decepticon-held territory, the team located the enormous crater left by the turbine's explosion but were almost immediately attacked by Skyfire. Snarl and the other Dynobots distracted the Decepticon scientist, allowing Grimlock to take him down, but as they celebrated their victory, all five were rendered inactive by a single blast from Shockwave. Their bodies were later recovered by the Autobots Secrets & Lies #1 and taken aboard the Ark's med-bay where Ratchet stored their sparks in magnetic field stasis and their memory engrams in the mind bank.

Dinobots secrets and lies.jpg

Following the Ark's crash, its computer AUNTIE detected Shockwave's presence on Earth and rebuilt the Dynobots with alternate modes based on dinosaurs to deal with the threat. Taking a shuttle to where Shockwave had constructed a power siphon to extract energon from the Earth, the newly christened Dinobots attacked "One-Eye", though Snarl found himself knocked off a cliff when Shockwave hit him with Swoop. Seeking an edge, Grimlock kicked Snarl back into action and ordered him to collapse the ground beneath Shockwave, Slag, and Swoop as they fought, which buried Snarl and Sludge beneath tons of rock.
