How to scan and upload photos and documents

1. Requisites
• The file format of your photos or documents has to be JPEG.
• The maximum file size of a photo is 524288 bytes (0.5 Mb).
• The maximum file size of a document (physician's statement, report cards or
teacher's recommendation) is 1048576 bytes (1 Mb).

2. How to scan

We recommend the following scanning resolutions:

Document Type Resolution


Passphoto 600 dpi
Passport 300 dpi
Photo 300 dpi
Report Cards 200 dpi
Teacher Recommendation 200 dpi
Physician's Statement 200 dpi

Our explanation uses Adobe Photoshop Elements and the driver of a Canon scanner.
The output of your applications may vary.

– Please start your graphics application and select the „import“ function
– Next, select the input source, your scanner and press „ok“.

– If your scanner application has started, please press „preview“.

– Select the picture you want to scan, set the resolution and press on „Scan“
– After the picture was scanned, close the scanner application to return to your
graphics application. The scanned picture is now shown.

– Save your picture (File -> Save), give it a name, choose the format JPEG and
press on „Save“.
– Now choose a JPEG quality of 6 and check if the size is less the maximum written
above. If the size is greater, decrease the JPEG quality. Press on „OK“.

– Your picture has been saved.

3. How to upload

– Press on the „Browse...“-Button to select your file.

– Move to the path your file is located, select the file and press „Open“

– The file is now named in the input field.

– Next press the „upload“ button. Your picture is going to be uploaded.
