Form the students to be into four to five groups. Have a game of charade. The words that will be picked are terms related to the topic (e.g. temperature, cold, wet, etc.) The winning group gets a prize.

Have the students recognize animals/plants that will be represented through pictures or sounds.

III. INTRODUCTION OF THE LESSON Initiate the first motivation. In lesson proper, deliver the topic in a PowerPoint Presentation. Let the students read some of the lesson. To be more interesting, they need to read it in accented-way like British or Chinese or whichever they like. IV. DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON Wladimir Koeppen a well-known proponent of classifying the worlds biomes TERRESTRIAL BIOMES a) Tundra is a treeless region in a cold climate with a short growing season. b) Taiga is an extensive northern biome occurring in moist climates with cold winters. c) Temperate deciduous forests are dominated by a large variety of broad-leaved trees in relatively moist, temperate climates. d) Temperate rain forests are characterized by mild winters and an abundance of rain. e) Temperate grasslands occur under climatic conditions that are between those that produce forests and deserts. 1

Tropical savanna and grassland. Savannas are grasslands with scattered individual trees that do not form a closed canopy.

g) Chaparral is a temperate biome that develops in environments where precipitation varies widely from season to season. h) Deserts occur in either temperate or tropical climates. They commonly are found in the centers of continents and in rain shadows of mountains (a dry region on the side of a mountain sheltered from rain). i) Tropical deciduous forest is similar to tropical rainforest and found at the same latitudes, but rainy and dry seasons are more distinct and the total amount of rainfall is usually less. j) Evergreen tropical rain forests occur in tropical climates with abundant precipitation and no seasonal drought. k) Ice cap is a large body of land ice that forms when large snowfalls and low temperatures encourage the transformation of snow into ice.

V. GENERALIZATION/SUMMARIZING THE LESSON/EVALUATION Group the students into six to seven groups. The activity will be a puzzle. The Biomes Tundra, Boreal Forest (Taiga), Temperate Forest, Temperate grassland, Desert, Tropical Savanna, Tropical Forest, Tropical Rainforest will be written on a piece of paper and each group will randomly pick one. Whatever biome they picked will be the one they need to arrange in a landscape photo in which there assigned biome. Sample: TEMPERATE FOREST Avg. Precipitation: Temp. Range: Geographic Location: Animals: 75-150 cm/yr
