The VR-5000 is a Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) designed to meet IMO A.861 (20) and IEC 61996. According to the New SOLAS Chapter V, the installation of VDR will come into force on 1st July, 2002 (For further information, please see the below table "Carriage requirement for VDR"). The purpose of VDR is to record voyage data concerning the navigation, status of watertight and fire doors, alarms, communications, etc. This information is used for an investigation after an incident. The VR-5000 consists of a 19" rack and a robust protective capsule accommodating the Data Recording Unit (DRU). The Data Collection Unit (DCU) furnished in a 19" rack includes Junction Box and back-up batteries. The DCU collects data from sensors connected with the junction box. All relevant navigation and status data including voice, radio communication and radar images are recorded for 13 hours. The data recorded can be retrieved with use of playback software for an investigation after an incident or for training purposes. The VR-5000 allows easy installation for both new buildings and retrofits, with a single cable between DCU and the capsule. Technical services, spare parts and technical backup can be provided wherever you are, whenever necessary through our World Wide Service Network consisting of over 100 agents in all major ports of the world.
