Wechsler Intelligence Scale For Children
Wechsler Intelligence Scale For Children
This is a very popular intelligence test for children aged 6 through 16. It is a norm-
referenced test of intelligence or aptitude (ability).
Test results give three overall scores: Verbal Scale, Performance Scale, and Full
Scale.
The Verbal Scale depends a great deal on vocabulary, verbal reasoning and general
information, and is much more closely correlated with classroom activities than the
Performance Scale.
The Performance Scale on the revised version is also made up of 6 sub-tests.
The Performance subtests are much more closely related to visual and perceptual
reasoning and to motor activity.
The Full Scale Score is what is generally referred to as one’s IQ. (Although this is
an improper way to express it. There is no sound evidence that anything such as an
IQ exists, and professionals will always refer to this number by what it really is: an
IQ Test Score).
