ODI tools are utilities used for performing administration functions
For example: move a file, read from a web service, extend a CDC window
Used in packages as package steps

Tools are used from within a Package
Accessed from the Tools toolbar
Drop onto package and set options, commands

Using an ODI Tool Step 1 : Create Package if Required


If this is for a new operation, create a package to hold tool
Name the package and add description

Using an ODI Tool Step 2 : Add Tool to Package


Locate required tool in toolbox
Click on tool and then
click on canvas to add it

Using an ODI Tool Step 3 : Set Command and Options


Using the supplied template, plus any variables you may have created, define
the command

Using an ODI Tool Step 4 : Test the Package and Tool


Right-click on the tool in the canvas and select Execute Step
View the results of the execution in the Operator navigator

ODI Tools
A set of utilities for performing common operations
Can be included in packages to perform tasks such as unzipping files, FTPing
files, extending CDC windows etc
Can be extended through plugins
Used alongside interfaces and other packages to create the ETL flow
