Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications (Nothing But Cloud)

- Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications combines functionality from Oracle's various acquired products into a single specialized application for each business process or module. - It includes finance from EBS, procurement from JDEdwards, HCM from PeopleSoft, and CRM from Siebel. - Oracle Fusion can be deployed either on-premise or in the cloud, with little difference in functionality between the two deployment options. The main difference is where the applications are hosted - on the customer's physical servers or within Oracle's cloud environment.

Oracle EBS -- oracles own product -- Many business processes but Best @ Financials

JDEdwards -- Acquired best @ Procurement, Finance as well

PeopleSoft Acquired @HCM (Human Capital Management)
Siebel -- Acquired @CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
Primavera Acquired -- @Projects
Hyperion Acquired @Budgeting, Planning & Reporting
Cloud-- Acquired
And many other products & technologies
Before Oracle fusion, there is no one product which is specialized in all business processes.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications (nothing but Cloud)

If ur applications are deployed on OnPremise, -- oracle fusion financials
If ur applications are deployed on cloud environment Oracle fusion cloud financials
Not much difference, its just where u r deploying, the functionality remains same

Oracle Fusion apps combined together by acquiring Finance from EBS, procurement from JDEdwards,
HCM from peoplesoft, CRM from Siebel etc.. from different vendors. So specialized at every module
/solution/business process
On premise vs Cloud:
On Premise Physical Server. Buy the Server Infrastructure, need to take license from Oracle, need
technical resource to handle it for server installation and all, a team to handle networking and security etc.
Client takes complete responsibility of maintaining their server.
Eg: EBS
Advantage:
-- Complete control over server/system/applications deployed
-- customizations can be done
-- No security issues bcoz they have their own team
Disadvantage:
Lets say u have server @US and operations across world, it causes some connectivity issues/delay for
responses

Cloud -- Virtual Server (Instead of physical server, servers can be created virtually with the help of big
machines. It will be resided in internet as a source. Connectivity to internet gives connectivity to
Server). (Wherever u r u vl have immediate connectivity with server. Just like a general cloud, u can see it
everywhere). Not required to buy the server infrastructure. Not required to take license for the product.
Use base Product (rent base). Vl maintain our applications in Cloud computing technology
Within cloud. We have 3 different models (3 different services available from Oracle)

SaaS: Software as a Service -- Auto upgrade happens for every new release (From one release to
other. Environment gets changed to latest model automatically). No customizations (Reports can be
customized, but no functionality customizations).

PaaS: Platform as a Service-- Oracle will provide u some tools access to allow Customizations. Auto
upgrade is not possible in this case. Well need to go back to oracle for that and it vl be charged.(Bigger
clients will go vth this for customizations )
IaaS: Infrastructure as a Service Oracle gives privileges for Customizations, some access to
database, Security

Most of the clients opt for Saas

Customization supported by Fusion:
Reports, Interfaces, conversions, workflows possible in all 3
ExtensionsOnly supported with PaaS model
Vendor -- oracle
Oracle Fusion Applications: Financials, SCM, HCM etc
Middleware: IDM/OIM, APM, UCM, SOA, BPEL(middleware components)
IDM= Identity manager/Oracle identity manager = sys admin in EBS
Where u can create users and assign roles (menus in EBS)
APM = Authorization policy manager (v can maintain roles/role templates etc.)
BPM =Business Process management. Any approval hierarchy can be set here (Approval Management
engine in Oracle).
UCM = Universal Content Management- oracle provides all templates (inbuilt) for data conversions, so we
dont require any technical help for this. (Data conversions in oracle)
SOA = Service Oriented architecture (u can do third party integrations)
BPEL = Business Process execution Language (workflow customizations)
As part of middleware, there are many other technologies too.
Database: Oracle database, Essbase database (used for reporting purposes. Data vl be stored in multi-
dimensional cubes)
In fusion we call it as options (but not modules like EBS)
FM, HCM, SCM = Offerings
GL, AP, AR = Options
