A2 Media Studies Questionnaire

As part of my A2 Media coursework, I will be producing a 5 minute short film, alongside a


corresponding poster and film review. My short film is centred on the theories of the male and female
gaze, and the difference between them. My film will be of a feminist nature, whilst still raising the
issues of the male gaze. Bearing in mind I am a student with a limited budget, I would appreciate it if
you provided suggestions for things that could make my initial ideas better and more concrete. Thank
you!

Basic synopsis:
My film will present itself predominantly in the form of POV shots, from two different bodies; one
male, one female. Each characters storyline will be individual to them as we follow their daily
routine, but at the end they will meet up. The theories of male and female gaze will each be
presented here because the camera will be focussed on the characters bodies, correspondingly from
each gender (e.g. the male POV shots will be focussed on the female characters body, as an example
of showing the male gaze).
