Statistical Treatment of Data

1. The weighted mean is used to calculate an average score when items have different weights. It is calculated by multiplying each data point by its corresponding weight, summing these products, and dividing by the total of the weights. 2. The Likert scale assigns numerical values to response categories like "Strongly Agree" to analyze survey results. Higher numbers represent more favorable responses. The weighted mean is used to calculate a consolidated score. 3. The median is the middle value when numbers are arranged in order. If there is no single middle value, it is the average of the two middle values.

Statistical Treatment of Data

1. Weighted Mean

This value is obtained by summing up the product of each score by its corresponding
weight, divided by the sum of the weights. In formula,
∑ 𝑤𝑖 𝑥𝑖
𝑥̅ =
∑ 𝑤𝑖

where:

𝑥𝑖 =𝑖 th data point

𝑤𝑖 =weight of the 𝑖 th data point

∑ 𝑤𝑖 𝑥𝑖 = sum of the products of the data points and their corresponding weights

2. Likert scale

The likert scale method of Summated Ratings was used in the study. The Likert Scaling
Technique assigns one scale value of each of the different responses. The Likert Scale is an
ordered, one dimensional scale from which respondents choose one option that best aligns with
their view. To analyze responses to Likert Scale, each category is assigned to a numerical value
such as Strongly agree which is equal to 5 and Strongly Disagree which is equal to 1 for five-
point scale. The total assigned value will be determined by using the weighted mean. The
scoring systems for each item must be such a high score consistently reflects a favorable
response and a low score consistently reflects an unfavorable response.

The consolidated points from the branch representatives answer to each item over a
five-point scale were a s follows:

Item Scale Range Interpretation

Level of Utilization

5 4.21-5.00 Always
4 3.41-4.20 Often
3 2.61-3.40 Sometimes
2 1.81-2.60 Seldom
1 1.00-1.80 Never

The formula used:

frf

Where f= frequency

r= rating
3. Median.

The median of a set of observations arranged in an increasing or decreasing order of

magnitude is the middle value when the number of observations is odd or the arithmetic mean
of the two values when the number of observation is even. The formula is given by

𝑥𝑛+1 𝑖𝑓 𝑛 𝑖𝑠 𝑜𝑑𝑑
2
𝑥̃ = {𝑥𝑛 + 𝑥𝑛+1
2 2
𝑖𝑓 𝑛 𝑖𝑠 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛
2
