Asbestos cement pipes: these pipes are not so much in use today PVC pipes: This type of pipe has a wide variety of plumbing uses from drainage pipe to water mains. It is most commonly used for irrigation piping, home, and building supply piping. 5.  Copper Pipes: This type of pipe is mostly used for hot and cold water distribution as well as being regularly used in HVAC systems for refrigerant lines.  Galvanized pipe: is a zinc coated steel or iron pipe. This galvanized coating keeps the water from eating up the pipe. Galvanized pipe is considered a safe transport for drinking water and is seen in larger commercial applications for water distribution.

RESEARCH SEED GRANT – NIT RAIPUR

To create research environment among the newly joined Assistant Professors in NIT Raipur
and to create opportunities for the researchers to explore their research ideas, Research Seed
Grant Scheme NITRR is proposed.

Objectives:

1. To submit research proposals to other funding agencies with the help of outcomes of
the seed grant funded project.
2. To publish research papers in peer reviewed journals.
3. Hardware/software development related for patent applications.

Grant Amount:

An amount of Rs. 5.00 Lakhs as Research Seed Grant will be allocated. The amount will be
allocated against individual research proposal to individual investigators only. Co – Principal
Investigators are not permitted under this scheme.

Eligibility:

Newly Joined Regular faculty members under Four Tier of NIT Raipur are eligible to apply
under the scheme

Content of the Proposal:

1. Title of the proposal


2. Time period (maximum three years)
3. Research Objectives
4. Current status of the work (Review with research gap identified).
5. Estimated budget year wise in following heads
a. Equipment/Items
(electronic gadgets, computers and its peripherals are not permitted)
b. Consumables
6. Methodology & Research Plan of the proposed work
7. Names of at least two reviewers (subject experts of minimum Associate Professor
level) from NIT Raipur. In case of non availability of subject experts at NIT Raipur
names of external reviewers from other centrally funded higher Institute of learning
can be provided.
8. Brief Resume of the Investigator.

Note: All purchases have to be done as per Institute norms.

Process:

Application along with the proposal needs to be sent to Dean R&C’s office for evaluation
through evaluation committee and for approval from the Director.

Rules for Seed Grant:

1. Travel grant for data collection is permitted.


2. The project is limited for a maximum of three years.
3. Progress report for every six months need to be submitted to Dean R&C in the form
of budget utilization and achieving the objectives.

Proposal evaluation committee:

Committee will be composed of four members as following:

1. Dean R&C - Chairman


2. Head of the Department- convener
3. Minimum two subject experts - members.

Project Execution:

The investigator will carry out the work as per the approved proposal and will be submitting
the details as mentioned above. The project can be supported by any other external agency
details of which needs to be reported to Dean R & C ‘s office immediately. Progress of the
project will be communicated to Board of Governors on regular interval.
