(iv) f(x) = 4x3 – 4x2 + x – 2 is divided by (3x – 1)

Q.2 Using the factor theorem, factorise completely the following polynomials.
(i) 2x3 + 7x2 – 9 (ii) 6x3 + 5x2 – 3x – 2
Q.3 Factorise x3 + 6x2 + 11x + 6 by factor theorem.

Q.4 Find the value of a so that (x + 6) is a factor of the polynomial (x3 + 5x2 – 4x + a)

Q.5 Find the value of a when 2x3 + 3x2 + ax – 2 is divided by 2x – 3, the remainder is 7.

Q.6 When (x3 + 3x2 – kx + 4) is divided by (x – 2), the remainder is k. Find the value of k.

Q.7 Find the value of k, if 2x + 1 is a factor of (3k + 2) x3 + (k – 1).

Q.8 If the remainder is 27 when 4x2 + ax + 1 is divided by x + 2 then factorize the polynomial.

Q.9 The polynomial px2 – 11x – 6 is divided by 5x + 2. Factorize the polynomial completely.

Q.10 Find the value of a in the following polynomial when (2x3 – ax2 – 3x – 7) and (ax3 – 3x2 – 8x – 19)
are divided by (x – 3), leave the same remainder.

divisible by 3x − 2?

Q.26 What number should be subtracted from x3 + 3x2 – 8x + 14 so that on dividing it by (x – 2), the

when divided by x + 3?
Q.28 If (x – 2) is a factor of 2 x3 − x 2 − px − 2 ,
(i) Find the value of p.
(ii) With the value of p, factorise the expression completely.

Q.29 The expression 4x3 − bx 2 + x − c leaves remainder 0 and 30 when divided by (x + 1) and (2x + 3)
respectively. Calculate the values of b and c . Hence, factorise the expression.
